Cheonan crab soup restaurant with two extra egg custards: Huni Gejang
In short
Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch is a soy-marinated crab and blue crab soup restaurant on Taejosan-gil in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam. On a Chuseok holiday drive south, the writer ordered the authentic blue crab soup (small) for 70,000 won plus stone-pot rice, plain rice, egg custard twice and an instant noodle add-in for two kids aged 10 and 7, while the younger child, who found the soup too spicy, filled up on the complimentary seaweed soup, gim (dried seaweed) and egg custard. With four Korean blue crabs from Yeonpyeong-do in a deep broth, Huni Gejang is a Korean restaurant worth returning to with parents in tow.

Traveling down south for the Chuseok holiday! Introducing a Cheonan restaurant famous for soy-marinated crab and crab soup — Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch.

Where is Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch, and is there parking?
Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch is at 52-6 Taejosan-gil, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam, 1st floor, open 10:50 AM–9:00 PM. They offer free corkage, group seating, baby chairs, a waiting area, reservations, and accept Cheonan local currency.

The parking lot fits 50+ cars. Plenty of space, so even new drivers don't need to worry.
Inside the restaurant
The interior of Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch was spacious and comfortable. A warm wood-toned atmosphere — being Saturday lunch, there were many people dining with their parents too.

Disposable aprons and dessert coffee were available too (mix coffee, Americano).

The off-menu dishes are on the tablet
The printed menu only lists the gejang (soy-marinated crab) set and albaegi (roe-filled crab) set, but there's more on the tablet.

For preschool-age children, you can order a "baby meal" for a very kind ₩100. It comes with rice, seaweed soup, gim, and banana (banana currently unavailable).
Stone-pot rice was ₩3,000 too.

Side dish refills, plastic gloves, and other necessities could all be ordered through the tablet.
The simple, clean side dishes
The basic side dishes were clean and simple: soft tofu, bracken fern, stir-fried seaweed stems, bracken fern, gim, and cabbage kimchi.
Water was served cold and fresh too. It struck me as a place that pays attention to hygiene.

We ordered the authentic crab soup (small), egg custard, and stone-pot rice + plain rice.
The food arrives
Egg custard, ordered twice

I ordered the egg custard (gyeranjjim) for my kindergartener. It wasn't too salty and was soft and fluffy, so it was great for a kid-friendly menu. It went really well with the spicy, refreshing crab soup. We ended up ordering an extra one.
Authentic blue crab soup (small), 70,000 won

The crab soup (small) arrived. The pot was huge — a good amount for 2-3 adults.
They also gave us a sand timer, saying it's best eaten after 5 minutes.

The small crab soup came with four crabs packed full of meat. No imported crabs or low-quality pre-cut crab here — Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch insists on 100% domestic Yeonpyeong-do blue crab.

The radish, cooked soft in the spicy, refreshing broth, was so sweet and delicious I ate several pieces.

The broth was packed with crab flavor and aroma — truly a rich, deep stock.

They provide small scissors, so I could cut the crab shells and trim the big crab legs, making it much easier to eat.
Bowl rice and stone-pot rice
Both the plain rice and stone-pot rice were sweet. I usually don't finish even one bowl of rice, but this rice was so sweet I polished off a bowl plus the scorched rice at the bottom.
Is the 100-won baby meal worth it for preschoolers?

Since my second child is preschool-age, I tried to order the baby meal, and they gave us seaweed soup and gim as a complimentary extra, so my kid ate happily too. I asked for the crab soup to be made a bit less spicy, but my 7-year-old still found it a little too spicy. With seaweed soup + gim + egg custard (one extra order), the kid ate happily in the end.
Adding instant noodles to the broth

My 10-year-old must have loved the crab, eating two and a half bowls of rice, and my 7-year-old ate over a bowl too. Mom and dad were full too, but with so much crab soup broth left, we couldn't resist adding an instant noodle add-in.

Instant noodles added to the refreshing, spicy crab soup broth... it was delicious on top of delicious ✨️ Noodles are the carbs that always fit even when you're full! Cooked in that cold, rich broth, they disappeared in no time.
Free coffee after the meal

We finished up with mix coffee! Eating that deep, rich crab soup and watching other tables dining with their own parents, I found myself wanting to bring my own parents here too. It's a deep, rich crab soup I think both sets of parents would love. They'd probably enjoy the gejang set menu too. I recommend it as a crab soup restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, and a great Korean restaurant to bring your parents.
