My boyfriend and I went to Locos BBQ Sangsu Branch for authentic Texas barbecue on a Sangsu date ⋆.ૃ࿔ It was my very first time having barbecue like this! We had a hearty meal with the Locos BBQ two-person sampler ᓚᘏᗢ

A Texas barbecue restaurant one minute from Sangsu Station

Locos BBQ Sangsu Branch is a Texas barbecue restaurant one minute on foot from Sangsu Station Exit 4. They say every cut of meat is aged for over 24 hours, then cooked low and slow with long oak-wood smoking.

Its signature dishes are brisket and spare ribs, and you can try several cuts at once in a platter or sampler. It is also close to Hongdae and Hapjeong, so it is in a great spot for a restaurant crawl around Sangsu Station.

Locos BBQ was even featured on Sung Si-kyung's YouTube show, Meogeul Tende. !!

An exotic atmosphere and lots of seating

The interior has such an exotic feel that it made our date feel a little like we had arrived in Texas, haha.

They also allow dogs, so I think it would be nice to come back with my pup next time. ⋆◡̎⋆
There were all kinds of seats, from private rooms and group tables to bar tables, so there were plenty of tables and the space felt roomy.

There were nachos at the self-service bar, so I grabbed some while we waited—and they were tasty too. (I ate way too many...)

What comes with the Locos BBQ two-person sampler and its price

The Locos BBQ two-person sampler is ₩49,900 and comes with brisket, pulled pork, pork belly, spare ribs, and six sides. They say sides such as mac and cheese and smashed potatoes are popular too. One two-person sampler left both of us full.

Table sauces to choose to your taste

Each table comes set with three sauces, so you can pick whichever one suits your taste for dipping.
From spare ribs to bun and tortilla combinations

The tray arrived absolutely packed with meat and sides. At the upper left, pulled pork was shredded into strands and generously coated in barbecue sauce; at the upper right, thick slices of brisket showed a distinct pink smoke ring on their cut sides.

Two racks of spare ribs with a glossy glaze sat side by side in the center, with pork belly cut into bite-sized cubes underneath.

The colorful sides included baked potatoes topped with cheese sauce and jalapeños, two pieces of golden grilled corn, coleslaw, baked beans, pickles, and pickled red onions. Four butter roll buns and tortillas were set alongside, making it easy to choose a meat and wrap it up.

The spare ribs were the most tender—the meat was cooked so softly that it slipped right off the bone.

The chipotle sauce was especially delicious, so I kept reaching for it to dip the meat.

Wrapping it in a bun or in a tortilla was both insanely good, so it was fun switching between the two. As you would expect from a Sung Si-kyung restaurant pick, the flavor felt properly tried and tested.

I finished with a Sprite, and it was cool and refreshing—it cleared away all the richness.

The corn, what more can I say... so delicious.
