Where is Deom Burger Main Branch in Yeonnam-dong?
Deombeogeo Bonjeom (덤버거 본점) is a handmade burger restaurant on the 2nd floor of 244-1 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. I was looking for somewhere good to go when I'm craving a handmade burger near Hongdae, and this place turned out to be easy to get to since it's right on Donggyo-ro, with a comfortable 2nd-floor spot to visit.

Walking in, I felt that clean atmosphere and delicious smell so typical of a burger place, and I was already looking forward to ordering.
The Double Deom Burger, with the salt level dialled down
This time I ordered the double Deom Burger. True to its name, Deombeogeo makes a generously loaded burger that's fun to eat, and what I especially liked was that you can adjust the salt level. I usually feel weighed down if I eat too much salty food, so I asked for it mild — and even with less salt, it didn't feel lacking at all; the flavor of the ingredients themselves really came through, which was satisfying.

The double Deom Burger brought together a thick patty and fresh vegetables, giving a really rich texture with the first bite. The patty was juicy, with a deep meaty flavor that grew stronger the more you chewed, and it worked well with the sauce. It wasn't overly intense or greasy in style, which made it easy to eat all the way through.
Is the 1,000-won extra lettuce worth adding?
There's an option to add extra lettuce, so I paid the extra ₩1,000, and it definitely made the burger feel more substantial. The generous lettuce added a crisp texture and balanced out the heaviness of the patty, making it feel cleaner to eat overall. If you like a crunchy vegetable texture, it's worth adding.

Black pepper and mild heat cut the richness
Overall the flavor had a subtle hint of pepper running through it. It wasn't just a burger that tasted of meat and sauce — the sharp, peppery note added a bit more depth. There was also a slight spiciness, and I liked how that helped cut the greasiness.

Usually with handmade burgers, if the patty is rich and there's a lot of sauce, it can start to feel greasy after a while — but thanks to the spicy note and pepper aroma, Deombeogeo stayed enjoyable right to the last bite. Even with the salt turned down, the balance of flavors was good, and if anything, the natural taste of the ingredients came through even more.

What two slices of colby jack cheese add
Adding colby jack cheese brings out a whole different appeal. I added two slices, and with the first bite, the cheese layered in richly, giving it a much deeper, more savory taste. The meaty flavor of the patty and the soft, salty character of the colby jack cheese blended really well — it genuinely felt like eating a cheese-bomb burger.

The cheese didn't just add flavor — it melted in between the layers of patty, creating a moist texture that made it taste even better. That combination of stretchy melted cheese and a thick patty is one handmade burger fans will find satisfying.

In particular, Deombeogeo's slight spiciness and pepper aroma held the heaviness of the cheese in check, so it wasn't as greasy as I expected, and I was able to enjoy it all the way through. The basic double Deom Burger is already plenty filling, but adding cheese really pushed up the savoriness and made it feel like a much more special burger.

How filling is the Double Deom Burger?
The combination of bun, patty and vegetables worked well too. The bun supported the fillings without feeling too heavy, and with the generous patty and lettuce together, it was plenty for a full meal. Since it's a double burger, the portion was quite substantial and left me full.

Personally, I think the advantage of Deombeogeo Bonjeom is that you can adjust it to your own taste. Those who prefer saltier food can enjoy it as-is, while people like me who want something a bit lighter can adjust the salt level and eat it without any heaviness.

If you're looking for a handmade burger spot in Hongdae, Deombeogeo Bonjeom is worth a visit for its generous portions and distinctive flavor. The double Deom Burger was a memorable menu item, bringing together meaty flavor, fresh vegetables, and that pepper-and-a-touch-of-spice combination. It should suit anyone looking for a handmade burger that doesn't feel greasy.
