Daegu bar with Joseon highball and black pork wraps: Juyukjeom

Hi, I'm Meokjuk-i. It had been a while since I felt like proper meat and a night-market atmosphere, so I headed to Gyodong in Daegu. I was looking for a place with good vibes and solid meat, and found a spot that's trending right now near Gyodong. Great access near Jungang Station, with a stylish retro feel too — here's my honest review of 'Juyukjeom Gyodong Main Branch,' a must-visit Daegu Gyodong restaurant.

Where is Juyukjeom Gyodong Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Juyukjeom Gyodong Main Branch is open 11:00–23:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00. It's group-friendly, and they also offer takeout, baby chairs, and a waiting area!

It was easy to find — just a short walk from Jungangno Station Exit 3 and it's right there.

Open from lunch to late at night, so it's great for a lunch meal or for enjoying the cool evening breeze outdoors after work.

This is a street I always pass through on the way from Daegu Station to Dongseongno — I had no idea a place like this existed here!

The weather is perfect for outdoor night dining right now, and I didn't know Gyodong had a spot like this.

Juyukjeom menu and prices: 9,900 won lunch specials and sets

Juyukjeom's signature dishes are red pork and black pork — 2–3 servings for ₩22,900, 3–4 servings for ₩32,900. There's also spicy squid at ₩25,900, grandma's spicy potato chicken feet at ₩19,900, and black or red grilled pig's feet at ₩14,900 each.

There's also a lunch special so you can enjoy it affordably and with great value. Available 11:00–15:00: red pork set, black pork set, or spicy squid set, all ₩9,900.

The set menu is also great value, so I'd recommend it if you're coming with a group. Kimchi noodle soup or bibim noodles + red pork or black pork, ₩12,900.

I ordered the black pork and the spicy grilled pig's feet. While waiting, I took a look around the interior!

Mother-of-pearl interior and a big dining room for groups

The interior is spacious too, so it seems like a great spot for group gatherings.

What caught my eye right away was the interior styled with mother-of-pearl cabinetry (jagaejang). The traditional charm and trendy vibe blend really well together. The inside was clean too, so it felt comfortable. A place I'd recommend for dates with friends or partners, family gatherings, or work dinners.

It was fascinating to watch the meat get pre-grilled. Juyukjeom says they enhance the flavor of the meat through their own aging process. With their in-house sauce, they've developed a taste that's uniquely theirs! It was great to be able to choose according to my taste — the addictively spicy red pork, the deep-flavored black pork, and the chewy grilled pig's feet.

Side dishes are self-serve, so you just grab as many tasty ones as you need.

How do the black pork and red spicy pig's feet taste?

The black pork arrives! Since it's pre-grilled, it carries just the right amount of smoky char, and with every bite the savory juices mingled with the house sauce — it went really well as a side with rice. Also a perfect drinking snack.

It's even better eaten with the bean sprouts underneath the pork. If you're looking for a great restaurant in Daegu's Gyodong area, I'd recommend Juyukjeom.

The spicy grilled pig's feet arrives too~ One bite and it was so spicy and chewy that I immediately wanted a drink and ordered one right away.

An 8,000 won Joseon highball at an outdoor table

Juyukjeom's Joseon highball is ₩8,000. It's a refreshing lemon highball that paired really well with the food.

With such a generously loaded spread, I really got the full night-market feeling. The side dishes were also so tasty they went perfectly with the meat. My personal picks were the perilla leaf sauce and garlic scape sauce.

The black pork was best wrapped in a lettuce wrap,

while the spicy grilled pig's feet was tastiest eaten just as it was! If you like spicy food, you have to try one of the red spicy dishes — deliciously spicy.

Finishing with cold kimchi noodle soup

For dessert, I ordered a refreshing kimchi noodle soup (kimchimari guksu). Cool and tangy-sweet, it's the perfect way to end the meal.

With the cool weather and a satisfying finish, Juyukjeom really is a must-visit restaurant in Daegu's Gyodong area.
