In short

Mibundang Myeongji Branch is a pho restaurant in Gangseo, Busan. On a weekday afternoon, I had brisket pho, beef brisket pho, and assorted fried dishes, then mixed extra noodles and bean sprouts with chili sauce and onion for a different flavor. Verdict: a hot, generous bowl that somehow feels comforting.

There is something strangely comforting about eating a generously filled bowl of pho, so I always end up enjoying Mibundang so much whenever I come here.

The bar-style seating at Myeongji International New City

Located within Myeongji International New City, it was easy to get to, and the interior had long bar-style counter seating.

With its wood interior and warm lighting, the whole place felt cozy. Since it is a quiet space for eating, it also looked comfortable for dining alone. Each seat had a coat hanger, and there were even blankets by the entrance, which made the little details feel thoughtful. With that atmosphere on top of everything else, it was a great Myeongji restaurant for a relaxed meal.

Ordering brisket pho, beef brisket pho, and assorted fried dishes

That day, I visited with someone I know and ordered the brisket pho for ₩11,500, beef brisket pho for ₩12,500, and assorted fried dishes for ₩8,500. Mibundang's pho comes with different meat depending on the menu, but both dishes we ordered were visibly piled high with meat. The first thing we said when the food arrived was, “This is really generous.”

A hot, generous bowl of pho

When you sit down, the basic side dishes come out. They may look simple, but they go so well with Mibundang's pho.

The broth was hot and clean-tasting, with a gently spicy kick that kept me coming back for more. There were lots of bean sprouts too, so the crunch was lovely, and with the noodles and meat together, one bowl was quite filling. Whenever I crave pho in Myeongji, I really like a bowl like this: warm broth filled generously with meat and bean sprouts.

Mibundang somehow feels comforting every time I eat there. When I take a spoonful of the warm broth, it feels like even my mind settles down for no particular reason, and I think that is why I enjoy Mibundang's pho even more.

How to enjoy extra noodles and bean sprouts

If the portion is not enough, you can get extra noodles and bean sprouts, though not extra meat.

We got extra noodles and bean sprouts too, but this time, instead of putting them back into the broth, we mixed them with chili sauce and onion. The sweet-spicy sauce and crunchy onion made it taste completely different from the pho we had started with. It felt like getting two different experiences from one bowl of Myeongji pho, so I would recommend trying it this way too.

Assorted fried dishes that pair well with pho

The assorted fried dishes were nice to share between two people because we could try several kinds at once. Rather than getting just one item, we could taste a little of several things, and they paired nicely with the pho too.

The crispy fried items tasted even better alongside the hot broth because of that contrast in texture. After having soft noodles and broth for a while, a bite of the crispy assorted dishes here and there refreshed my palate, and I could keep eating without getting tired of it until the end.

A good place to visit when you need a filling, warm weekday-afternoon meal. A generous bowl that somehow even feels comforting—Mibundang's pho was definitely my kind of food. If you are looking for hot, generous pho in Myeongji, it may be worth stopping by.
