First-time Korean lash lift in Dongtan: 40-minute bling perm, Moodmoa

In short

Moodmoa Lash & Brow is a one-person lash and brow salon near Ganari Park on Dongtan Bansong-gil in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. After going back and forth between extensions and a lift, the writer chose the bling perm at Moodmoa for 40,000 won, and the treatment took about 40 minutes; simply adding curl to her own lashes made her eyes look far more defined. For a first lash lift without the upkeep that extensions demand, Moodmoa's bling perm was an easy choice.

This time I tried a lash lift for the first time. I'd been going back and forth between lash extensions and a lift for a while without ever committing. My lashes aren't exactly short, but the lengths are a bit uneven, and extensions always need upkeep, so I figured a lift would be the better place to start. So I went to Moodmoa Lash & Brow in Dongtan and got the bling perm. Bottom line up front: it was my first lash lift and I loved the result.

How to get to Moodmoa in Dongtan, and where to park

Moodmoa Lash & Brow is on the 1st floor at 8 Dongtan Bansong-gil, near Ganari Park, so it wasn't hard to find. Parking is available right in front of the shop, but when I visited there were already quite a few cars, so parking out front looked a bit tight.

So I just used the Ganari Park public parking lot instead. It's free for the first 1 hour 30 minutes, which actually put my mind at ease.

A lash lift itself isn't a long treatment, and this time it took about 40 minutes, so I didn't need to worry about the parking clock at all. If you're visiting for the first time and there's no spot out front, don't panic — just use the park's parking lot.

Walking into Moodmoa, the first thing I noticed was how clean it felt.

And since they don't take multiple guests at once — only one person is treated at a time — I never felt like I was sharing the space with anyone else, which I liked.

One-person treatment bed space

When I go to beauty shops like this, I get a bit self-conscious if the space is too open or there are a lot of people around, but here that wasn't an issue at all. Before starting the treatment, I actually watched the stylist wash her hands thoroughly. It might sound like a small thing, but since it's a treatment right around the eyes, it's something I personally pay attention to. She didn't make a big deal about hygiene or bring it up herself, but seeing it firsthand gave me the impression that things were kept clean.

Why I picked the bling perm over extensions for my first lash lift

Honestly, this was my very first lash lift ever. So even before visiting Moodmoa I'd been going back and forth on extensions versus a lift. Extensions give you that defined-eye look, but I'm not usually great at keeping up with detailed maintenance, so the upkeep after extensions felt like a bit much. But since my lashes aren't especially long, I did wonder if I should go with extensions anyway.

Client's lashes before the bling perm

When I told the stylist what I was torn about, she looked closely at my lashes and immediately recommended a curl instead. She said I had some decent length already and fairly defined eyes, so a curl would work well on me. That convinced me to try working with my own lashes first. So this time I went with a perm — specifically the bling perm.

What happens during Moodmoa's 40-minute bling perm

A lash perm means lying down with your eyes closed, and I did wonder at first whether 40 minutes of lying still would be uncomfortable. But it was more comfortable than I expected. She propped my legs up slightly so I could relax my whole body while lying down.

At a beauty shop, total silence can feel a bit awkward, but constant chatting the whole time can be tiring too. Here, she explained what step she was on at the right moments, and otherwise just let me rest comfortably.

After the lash curling, she went through pH balance care, moisture balm care, and protein care. Curling can sometimes leave lashes looking dry and damaged, but this protein step seems to be what keeps the curl bouncy and pretty. As someone getting a lash lift for the first time, not knowing what was happening could easily make me anxious, but her explaining each step along the way made it much easier to relax.

The result 40 minutes later: how my first lash lift looked

Finally the treatment was done and I looked in the mirror — wait, this looks way better than I expected?

Since it was my first lash lift, I honestly had no idea how much of a difference it would make. But once the curl was in, my eyes looked noticeably more defined than I'd imagined.

What really struck me is that this wasn't extensions adding anything — it was just my own lashes, tidied up — and yet the difference felt significant. My lashes are naturally on the longer side, but the lengths were uneven, and once the curl went in, everything looked more put-together overall.

What I liked most was that it wasn't an overdone look — just clean and defined, exactly what I wanted. I was worried it might look awkward since it was my first time, but I didn't need to worry at all, haha. After the treatment, she gave me a lash brush — a cute one with a lucky turtle charm hanging off it. The pink caught my eye right away, so I happily took it home.

Is a first Korean lash lift at Moodmoa worth it?

After trying a lash lift for the first time, I get why people say to try the perm before extensions. Of course, everyone's lash length, density, and preferred style are different, but if you're like me — lashes with decent length already, and extensions feeling like too much upkeep — starting with a lift isn't a bad idea at all. I liked the result enough that I've shelved the extensions idea for now.

And just as good as the result itself was how comfortable the 40 minutes were. Since only one guest is treated at a time, it was quiet, and the stylist was genuinely friendly but didn't talk more than necessary, so I could relax and rest through the whole thing.

I was a little nervous going in since it was my first lash lift, but in the end I was satisfied enough to think 'why didn't I do this sooner?' If you're in Dongtan and considering your first lash lift, I think Moodmoa's bling perm is a solid option to try. Next time I want to see how long it actually lasts, and if it holds up, I'm thinking of getting lash lifts regularly. :)
