In short

Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch is an aged black pork restaurant in Ruwon City, near Gajeong Station in Seohae, Incheon. Its signature Yukbaegi set costs 62,000 won and brings 600g of 7-day aged Jirisan black pork — 400g pork neck and 200g pork belly — cooked at a separate grilling zone instead of your table and served cut into bite-size pieces, with house-made ssamjang, salt, meljeot, steamed egg and muk sabal. While looking for a good BBQ place in Gajeong-dong, Incheon, I ended up at Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch. It's a spot for aged black pork, and it's not just the meat — they put a lot of care into the homemade side dishes and sauces too. What I really liked was that they don't grill the meat at the table; instead it comes cooked and ready from a separate grilling zone, which made it much more comfortable for a company dinner or family gathering where you're mostly talking.

Inside Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul: room for company dinners and gatherings?

The interior was spacious and clean. Besides regular tables, there's also partitioned seating, which made it fine for larger groups too. It worked well as a spot for company dinners, family gatherings, friend meetups, or even a casual date over BBQ. Instead of the usual chaotic Korean BBQ feel, you can focus on actually enjoying your meal. If you're looking for a Ruwon City restaurant or Ruwon City BBQ spot that covers company dinners, gatherings, and family meals all at once, this one's worth considering.

The signature Yukbaegi set: 400g pork neck + 200g pork belly

A signature set where you can try both pork neck and pork belly together.

  • Aged Jirisan black pork (Yukbaegi) / ₩62,000
  • 7-day aged Jirisan black pork neck 400g (2 servings) + pork belly 200g (1 serving) = 600g total

It looked like the safest, most well-rounded order, and it's genuinely their signature menu.

Color of the black pork in the Yukbaegi set

Look at the color of that meat haha 🤣 Korean Berkshire K, a breed developed from the British Berkshire and adapted to local farming conditions and Korean tastes, is more moist and chewy compared to regular pork, with a stronger, richer fat flavor.

How the grilling zone works: pork grilled and cut for you

This was the part I really loved — not having to grill the meat yourself from scratch at the table. Since it comes out almost fully cooked from a separate grilling zone, you get to enjoy it in perfect eating condition as soon as you sit down. Way less smoke smell soaking into your clothes and no heat blasting in your face from the grill — so nice! Thick cuts of black pork are easy to burn on the outside and undercook on the inside if you grill them yourself at home, but here they nail the temperature and timing, which made things a lot easier.

Thick black pork neck cut into bite-size pieces

I tried the pork neck first — thick cuts with juices still inside, so it was moist. They told me the meat tastes best when the inside still has a slight pink tinge. Serving good-quality meat cooked at its most perfect point was seriously delicious 🤍 You could really feel the firm texture typical of Jirisan black pork, and the more you chewed, the more the savory flavor came through. They cut it into bite-size pieces for us, so there was no need to grab scissors.

Side dishes and sauces at Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul

Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Ruwon City makes even the side dishes in-house, and honestly they stuck with me as much as the meat. The cabbage is steamed rather than boiled, so it stayed crisp, and the salad had a homemade kiwi dressing that was refreshingly tangy. The meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) isn't just served plain either — they season it themselves, and dipping the pork belly in it added a salty, savory depth that paired really well.

Homemade ssamjang made with house doenjang

The ssamjang (dipping paste) is also handmade — most places just mix a store-bought brand of ssamjang with soda for a fizzy sweetness, but here it's built on a base of homemade doenjang (soybean paste), so it's not aggressively sweet like the usual version and instead has that deep, savory doenjang flavor. They also use salt with the bitterness well drained out, and eating the pork dipped in just salt turned out to be the cleanest way to taste the natural richness of the black pork itself.

Steamed egg and muk sabal that come with the Yukbaegi set

The steamed egg custard and mool-naengmyeon that come with the Yukbaegi order — apparently made with 3 to 4 large eggs — puffed up soft and fluffy, great to pair between bites of meat. They mentioned they put extra care into it since it's a dish made with children in mind. It gave the impression that they pay attention even to the small details, which really stood out.

Mool-naengmyeon made with beef bone broth

The mool-naengmyeon broth isn't just store-bought cold noodle broth either — they simmer beef bones into it themselves for extra depth. It's not seasoned strongly to begin with, so I'd recommend trying it as-is first, then adding seasoning only if needed.

The meat itself was high quality and delicious, but with the ssamjang, salt, sauces, and meljeot mostly made in-house, you could really feel how much attention goes into the overall food quality.

If you run out of side dishes, you can just grab more from the self-serve bar. Also, a nice extra touch — a lot of places these days serve water or drinks in paper cups, but Heukdwaeji Ruwon City gives you glass cups for both water and drinks. Even when I ordered a non-alcoholic drink, I still got a glass, which was nice haha ㅎㅎ

Eating the pork belly and the pork neck end cuts

The pork belly definitely had that rich, savory fattiness. With skin, fat, and lean meat layered together, the outside was chewy while the inside stayed tender, which made it great to alternate with the pork neck. If you're a pork lover, it might be worth adding the aged pork jowl on the menu too, to compare it against the neck and belly. They even cut the mushrooms into easy-to-eat bite sizes, so wrapping them together was delicious haha 🤣

The end cuts of the pork neck were also savory and really tasty. They lined them up and grilled them, saying they're perfect as an anju (drinking snack) haha.

Is Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul in Ruwon City worth it?

I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a good BBQ restaurant in Gajeong-dong, Incheon, or wanting to properly enjoy pork neck, pork belly, or pork jowl in Ruwon City. If you want a hearty meat meal for lunch or dinner and you're searching for a Ruwon City restaurant, starting with the aged black pork Yukbaegi set is a solid choice. Overall, Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul stood out not just for making it easy to enjoy properly aged Jirisan black pork, but for the care put into the sides too — the ssamjang, sauces, meljeot, and mool-naengmyeon. If you'd rather eat comfortably cooked meat than deal with grilling it yourself, or you're looking for a Ruwon City, Incheon spot with parking and a private-room-like feel for company dinners or family gatherings, this one's worth a visit 🤍
