In short

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch is a chicken kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Songcheon-dong Eco City, Jeonju, an 11-minute drive from Jeonbuk National University Hospital. On a weekend visit at 1:30 p.m. the writer ordered two chicken kalguksu (22,000 won) and a chicken kalguksu plus 4-piece dumpling set (13,500 won), and found the 24-hour aged house-made noodles chewy in a perilla and chicken bone broth. How far is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu from Jeonbuk National University Hospital, and is there parking?

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch is very close to Jeonbuk National University Hospital — just an 11-minute drive. About 6-7 cars can park right in front of the store, and if it's full, you can park at the Namhae Makhoe parking lot :)

My first trip back to Jeonju in a while! This time I visited a Jeonbuk Hospital area favorite, Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch.

When we walked in, all the staff greeted us loudly with "Welcome!" — it felt like a genuinely warm welcome :)

Inside at 1:30 p.m. on a weekend: hall and private rooms

The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables, so turnover was good. We visited at 1:30pm on a weekend, a bit of a late lunch hour, but there were still quite a few customers!

Spacious main hall seating with many tables

There are room spaces like this too — perfect for a group visit where you can take your time.

Here's another room space, this one with a sink and baby chairs set up inside. Being a separate enclosed space, it looked comfortable for family meals, and with a sink and baby chairs available, it seemed pretty convenient for anyone visiting with an infant :)

The fresh cabbage salad (geotjeori) side is made fresh every morning using domestic cabbage, apparently. Maybe because it's made fresh daily, the crunchy texture of the cabbage was really alive!

Menu and prices at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu

At Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch, you order and pay directly through the POS terminal attached to each table! The menu is roughly divided into new items, regular menu, drinks, takeout, and set menus.

After much deliberation, we ordered as follows.

  • Chicken kalguksu x2: 22,000
  • Chicken kalguksu + dumplings 4pc: 13.5

The set sides: pickled radish and cabbage kimchi

The default sides are kept simple: two kinds — pickled radish and fresh cabbage salad. The radish was sliced thinner than usual, which made it perfect to eat alongside the noodle soup! The cabbage salad was on the mild-spicy side, but the crunchy cabbage texture kept my chopsticks reaching back for more. Eating it alongside the mild, clean flavor of the kalguksu, the spicy salad really woke up the appetite!

How does the chicken kalguksu taste? Perilla broth and house-made noodles

Not long after ordering, the chicken kalguksu arrived quickly! As befits the signature dish, it came out with a hearty, generous look — a dish made with a nutty, mild perilla-based broth plus chewy self-made noodles, apparently :)

With chicken — a high-protein, low-fat ingredient — and a chicken bone broth simmered carefully for a long time, the soup had quite a deep, clean flavor. Even though the broth was richly simmered, it was never heavy or greasy — it was clean!

Rich chicken bone broth

Maybe because the noodles are made in-house from dough aged for 24 hours, they were extremely chewy with real spring to them. The noodles also didn't get soggy easily while eating, and had a springy texture the more you chewed — perfect for chewing through :)

The rich, nutty perilla broth blended really well with the noodles, so every chopstick-full of noodles carried that nutty flavor too. The combination of broth and noodles worked so well together that I could enjoy it happily right to the end!

Is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu good value as a restorative meal?

It was a filling meal you could enjoy heartily thanks to the chicken and the richly simmered chicken bone broth. The price wasn't a burden either, so it made for a satisfying, filling meal, and with the chicken and rich broth, it seemed like a great budget-friendly option as a restorative dish!

Bowl of chicken kalguksu after finishing the meal

Even as we left after finishing our meal, the staff warmly said, "Thank you, have a safe trip!" — from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, it felt like a place that treats guests kindly the whole way through :)

I was so satisfied with this Jeonbuk Hospital area favorite, Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch — not just the food, but the staff were kind and welcoming too, so I left feeling great after the meal. :) With chicken, rich broth, and chewy noodles all coming together for a hearty meal, it was such a satisfying place!
