Today I'm sharing a review of Sonsi Sushi, a truly delicious sushi place with a waiting line! I've been eating here on my own dime for a long time now!
Where is Sonsi Sushi Yeungnam University Main Branch and how do you get there?
Sonsi Sushi is located near the main gate of Yeungnam University. By subway, you can get there in about 7-10 minutes on foot from Yeungnam University Station. Here's what the storefront looks like!
Sonsi Sushi opening hours and parking in Gyeongsan
Sonsi Sushi's address is 325 Daehak-ro, Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk, and it's open daily from 11:30 to 21:00. Last order is at 15:00 and 20:30, with a break time from 15:30 to 16:30 — though there's no break on weekends or holidays.

How does the CatchTable waiting list work at Sonsi Sushi?
Visiting after a while, I noticed they now use CatchTable! It made waiting so much more convenient. They also had sun umbrellas ready for waiting guests — a must on a hot summer day — and I could really feel the owner's thoughtfulness (so touched).
Inside Sonsi Sushi: seating for 9–10 groups
The inside of Sonsi Sushi has a clean interior, perfect for a date, family meal, or a gathering spot. The tables are arranged efficiently, so about 9-10 tables can dine at once. That's why even if you wait, a seat tends to open up pretty quickly~
Sonsi Sushi is made with great ingredients! Made with good ingredients, and yep — that's probably why I've marveled at it every time I've eaten here.

I have no idea how sushi is actually made, but even just hearing about it makes it sound even more delicious,,
The lunch-only value set for two, 24,900 won
Sonsi Sushi's value set can only be ordered during lunch hours (11:20–13:30) and costs ₩24,900 for two. It comes with their signature assorted sushi, sashimi rice bowl, udon, and fried shrimp — I visited in the evening so I couldn't order it, but it really looked like great value.
What we ordered for dinner at Sonsi Sushi: thick salmon nigiri, premium aged set and extra flounder
We ordered the 10pc thick salmon nigiri for ₩17,800 and the 12pc premium aged nigiri set for ₩18,500, and since we both love flounder, we added 2pc of flounder on top.

A whole plate of my favorite salmon nigiri came out!!! Of all the sushi restaurants I've been to, I really, really love Sonsi Sushi's salmon.. it's so fresh and tastes luxurious.. the aging is done so artfully that the umami is out of this world (p)
The udon at Sonsi Sushi is also so delicious that I always end up having two bowls,,,
Adding 2pc flounder nigiri
My second pick is flounder! With its chewy texture, they age large flounder over 3kg to pack in even more umami.
Premium aged nigiri set, 12pc for 18,500 won
Wowww, my boyfriend's pick — the premium aged nigiri set, 12pc!!!! When this came out,,, I gasped at how gorgeous the color looked as soon as I saw it. They explained that it tastes even better if you eat from left to right!
Seared salmon, raw salmon, tuna, flounder, flounder fin, soy-marinated shrimp, raw shrimp, eel, egg, monkfish liver, and more,, it really had every kind of delicious sushi you could want, all gathered together. This is a review confirming that every single piece was delicious without exception haha
As an udon lover, I added an extra order of udon on its own, and my boyfriend added a soy-marinated shrimp and an eel piece each!
I saw a lot of people ordering takeout too. I was so jealous of anyone who lives nearby,,ㅠㅠㅠ
Is Sonsi Sushi in Gyeongsan worth the wait?
They even had disposable mouthwash and hair ties on hand — such thoughtfulness,, I was satisfied all the way to the very end. Sonsi Sushi is a place I'll definitely visit again whenever I'm in Gyeongsan! I truly, genuinely recommend it.
