Found Jju Baksa Magok Branch while looking for dinner after visiting Seoul Botanic Park in Magok!

If you love webfoot octopus, stick around to the end — I found a combination that was honestly way better than just eating the octopus plain.

We ordered the octopus fried rice set with flying fish roe cheese, octopus ramyeon (spicy noodle soup), and odeng soup. The combo of mayonnaise cheonsachae (shredded jellyfish-textured radish), perilla leaf, and roe turned out to be pretty great. Let me walk through the menu, prices, and the combo I loved.

It also seemed like a good spot to swing by after a date at Balsan Station's Megabox or Seoul Botanic Park.

We visited at night, and the red Jju Baksa sign was visible from far away. Inside there were several celebrity autographs on the wall, which were fun to check out.

The vibe wasn't an overly styled date spot — more like a casual Magok restaurant good for spicy food and a drink. It felt right for dinner with friends or for office workers grabbing a meal and drink after work.

The menu was more varied than I expected.

Besides the signature octopus dishes, there was hot plate rose octopus, hot plate octopus-pork belly-shrimp, and hot plate octopus-pork belly. The lunch special was ₩10,000 per the menu photo.

Price list for octopus ramyeon, odeng soup, and other sides

For sides, there was octopus ramyeon at ₩7,000, odeng soup at ₩9,900, and pine sherbet at ₩8,000. Fried rice options included flying fish roe cheese fried rice at ₩4,500, and flying fish roe fried rice or cheese fried rice each at ₩3,500. After going back and forth, we ordered

That's what we settled on. Rather than just eating octopus alone, adding ramyeon and a soup made the meal feel much more filling.

Eating octopus can make you crave other dishes because of the spice, so it was nice being able to order fried rice, ramyeon, and odeng soup all at once.

From the photos, they were also running a Naver receipt review event and an Instagram hashtag event.

After participating and showing staff, they offered alcohol or a soft drink — but events can change, so it's worth checking with the store at the time of your visit.

The best way to eat Jju Baksa octopus: mayo cheonsachae and perilla wraps

Spicy octopus cooking on the hot plate

What I liked most that day was, surprisingly, the wrap combination. I put mayonnaise cheonsachae on the octopus, added roe, wrapped it all in a perilla leaf, and ate it in one bite.

It worked really well together. The savory mayonnaise cheonsachae toned down the spicy octopus a bit, and the perilla aroma kept me reaching for more. The roe added a nice popping texture too.

It was more fun switching up combinations like this than just eating octopus plain the whole time. If you're visiting Jju Baksa for the first time, I'd definitely recommend trying this combo once.

Good call ordering the octopus ramyeon too — the spicy broth with octopus in it felt different from regular ramyeon. And the odeng soup was great to have on hand when you want something warm amid all the spicy dishes.

Next time I go, I'll definitely order the octopus with perilla leaf + roe + mayonnaise cheonsachae combo again. Save this if you didn't know about it — you might just walk right past it otherwise!
