Mapo Korean restaurant for rich gop-haejang: Yukjeon Gukbap

I went back to Yukjeon Gukbap Seogyo Branch (육전국밥 서교점), which I’d visited once before 😊

I ordered gop-haejang on my return visit

Last time I had Yukjeon gukbap, but this time I wanted to try something else, so we ordered beef gukbap and gop-haejang 🤭 So the star of this return visit was definitely the gop-haejang…!

Yukjeon Gukbap Seogyo Branch is the kind of place I think of when I want a hearty meal! We ordered two kinds of gukbap and shared them again this time, and really, gukbap is best when it arrives piping hot 🔥

Side-dish self-service bar and aprons

The basics are kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and pickled onions! Personally, I love the yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) you can get from the self-service bar… I refill it twice every single time I go, haha..

And there are aprons beside the self-service bar too, so you don’t have to worry at all even if you come in white clothes…!!! So, so good..💗💗

Gukbap options and free corkage

There are this many menu options too..~ And free corkage, even🩶 Bring wine or whisky and give it a try… I’m curious too⭐️

The Yukjeon gukbap I had last time

This is the Yukjeon gukbap we ordered last time—it’s beef gukbap topped with yukjeon (pan-fried beef slices)! Ta-da // This is beef gukbap!!! It’s a great choice when you want a clean, straightforward bowl of gukbap, so I think it would be an easy pick for anyone who likes the classic menu items!

We had it with drinks last time too.. hahaha By the way, they’ll bring extra broth if you need it, so ask the owner if you do..!

What’s in the gop-haejang and its rich broth

And here is the long-awaited gop-haejang! Seriously… the gop-haejang was sooo good…. I enjoyed the beef gukbap on my first visit too, but after trying the gop-haejang this time, I realized gop-haejang is definitely more my taste 😂 It had that hot, satisfying gukbap feeling, with gop-haejang’s own deep flavor added in, so it was perfect with a drink too!

The gop-haejang has glass noodles, tripe, beef intestines, and more, plus a subtle perilla seed powder flavor—it was sooo delicious..💗 Having a shot of soju with the hot broth made it just right for dinner 🍶 It felt like a combination I’d think of when I want a satisfying meal and a drink around Hongdae!

Yukjeon Gukbap Seogyo Branch is a good place to stop by when you want gukbap near Hongdae! And if it’s a place you liked enough to revisit, like me, that makes it feel even more reliable, right?✨ I left very satisfied with the gop-haejang this time! It would be great to try a hearty gukbap meal here! If I come back again, I’ll probably order gop-haejang again… 🤍 It really was exactly my kind of dish!
