Gwangjang Market dessert shop with mugwort wine: Ssuk's Choco Pie
In short
Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul is a handmade mugwort choco pie dessert shop inside Gwangjang Market in Jongno, Seoul. Reserving through Naver Map and picking up a 6-piece gift set, the writer tried the free tastings set out in front of the shop and browsed the bear-jar handmade milk tea and Ssuk's shine muscat and apple wines, with the Nonsan strawberry and sea-breeze mugwort whole red bean flavors standing out most. Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul is an easy dessert to carry home as a Gwangjang Market souvenir or a housewarming gift.

Are you only going to Gwangjang Market for tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and mandu (dumplings)? For anyone looking for dessert in Gwangjang Market, I want to recommend Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul, which I just visited!
I reserved through Naver Map and picked up my order quickly at the reserved time~ The friendly owner had everything ready fast ><
Where is Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul, and what are the hours?
Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul is on the 1st floor of 25 Jongno 32-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, inside Gwangjang Market. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–18:30, Sat–Sun 10:00–19:00.

It's pretty close to Jongno 5-ga Station too, so it's a good spot to swing by while exploring Gwangjang Market, or right before heading home after shopping the market.

Free tasting in front of the shop: how does it work?
Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul offers free tastings right out front. Walk a little from the entrance of Gwangjang Market and these cute pandas and brick bears greet you! This whole green space is Ssuk's Choco Pie~ You can even tell they use mugwort (ssuk) just from the shop's green color, right?!
And right in front of the shop, catching my eye immediately: FREE. TAST.ING!! Wait, this is actually happening?!

So cute, catching my eye from outside the shop already °°°💚

The inside is also full of cute bears with a green-on-green interior! 💚 I couldn't stop taking pictures haha
The package sticker event at Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul
There's also an event where they stick a sticker on the package for you, no extra charge : ) So many little touches that show the owner's sweet effort to do a bit more for customers.
Receipt review freebie: a 3-piece Ssuk's cookie sampler

You can join the receipt review event even if you buy just 1! Take part in a receipt review and get a 3-piece Ssuk's cookie sampler °°° isn't that a seriously generous deal°°°
6-piece set or single pieces: which flavors can you pick?
Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul offers a 6-piece set package where you can try one of each flavor, and single pieces are also available. I actually came today to pick up this 6-piece package~

So many mugwort choco pie flavors to choose from

Besides the sets, you can also buy single pieces, and as the photos show, there are so many choices ><. Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort, Nonsan strawberry, and lots more.
Unlike the typical marshmallow choco pie you might picture, this one has cream inside, so it's a handmade dessert that's softer and more like a dessert cake!
The gift set that works for a housewarming

A 3-piece gift set and a 6-piece gift set! These two immediately catch your eye — perfect as a gift set for a gathering, right?! Especially good to bring as a housewarming gift, I think~
Bear-jar handmade milk tea at Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul
Besides choco pie, Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul also has handmade milk tea and wine in cute bear jars. 🧸

The bear is back and so cute I wanted that jar so badly haha. After finishing the handmade milk tea, I doubt I'll be able to throw the jar away...
Ssuk's shine muscat and apple mugwort wines
They actually sell wine here!! Ssuk's shine muscat wine and Ssuk's apple wine. I can't even imagine how refreshing and sweet that must be..❤️
A Cheonggyecheon walk after picking up the order

After picking my flavors for the 6-piece gift set and getting it wrapped, I took a walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream right nearby, and it was total healing ㅜㅜ If you're heading to Gwangjang Market, go grab Ssuk's Choco Pie and walk along Cheonggyecheon afterward — total healing course!
What the choco pies actually taste like
This choco pie must be refrigerated!

The packaging looks pretty upscale right?? Not some cheap choco pie °°°
Gift-ready packaging from Gwangjang Market

A great look for gifts around Gwangjang Market — especially if you're on a trip to Seoul and visiting Gwangjang Market, this is the kind of thing you'd love if you're looking for a dessert with more character than the usual franchise dessert.

Each one is wrapped again in a bag inside the box, so extra reassuring ❤️

My favorite flavor, Nonsan strawberry 🍓❤️ Anyone who likes sweet and tangy?! This is the one.

The two flavors I was most curious about! Left is Gwangju real chocolate, right is sea-breeze mugwort whole red bean.

Gwangju real chocolate hits you with rich, deep chocolate sweetness right from the first bite...🍫💝 Sea-breeze mugwort whole red bean, you can taste the mild mugwort and red bean right away!! A can't-go-wrong combination.. the red beans you bite into now and then were sweet and nutty and worked so well together.
The cross-section looks different from a regular marshmallow choco pie too! Using cream gives it a softer, moister feel.
Final verdict on Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul
I usually only think of traditional food when I think of Gwangjang Market, so finding a dessert this nicely packaged to take home felt like a fresh discovery.
The sweet cream paired well with the various flavors like red bean, peanut, and strawberry! It felt light and easy to eat haha. Especially since each piece is individually wrapped, it was great for storing or sharing.
The packaging is also clean, so it's great both as a souvenir from a Gwangjang Market visit and as a gift haha. If you're looking for a not-so-common dessert in Gwangjang Market, definitely stop by Ssuk's Choco Pie!!
