Last weekend I went with my family to Byeollae because I was craving a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) loaded with seafood, so we headed to Gojip Tongmuneo Kalguksu Byeollae Byeolgaram Station Branch 🥰 This place is known for kalguksu with a whole octopus in it, and I was curious to try it — turns out the generous seafood and cool broth made for a really satisfying meal with my family 👍🏻

What about parking and restrooms?
For those driving, there's a dedicated parking lot behind the store :) It's fairly spacious, but keep in mind it can get busy on weekends or around lunchtime! After parking, you can head straight down the stairs by the lot into the restaurant 🥰

Restrooms are available for customers, with separate ones for men and women :) Convenient to use before or after the meal.

Weekend waiting and the waiting area
The building's exterior is clean with a sign that's easy to spot, so the restaurant wasn't hard to find :) There are outdoor waiting seats out front, and since waits do happen here, there's a waiting room too haha

Gojip Tongmuneo Kalguksu's Byeollae branch doesn't take reservations, so you go by waiting — especially on weekends there can be a wait, so I'd recommend arriving early! 🥹 There's also a small aquarium outside where you can see the seafood :)

We arrived right at the 11am opening time, but the place was already packed with customers. Guess that's what makes it a popular spot — or maybe it was the weekend — but so many people had come by that early! 👍🏻

The basic side dishes were kimchi and yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) :) They went well alongside the kalguksu 🥰
Whole Octopus Kalguksu (medium) & Seafood Dumplings

We ordered the medium whole octopus kalguksu, and the seafood was way more generous than I expected — it caught my eye the moment it arrived! 👍🏻 Along with a hefty whole octopus, it was piled with abalone, scallops, clams and more — plenty for the whole family to share 👍🏻
The whole octopus in particular was a good-sized piece, cut into easy-to-eat pieces so we could enjoy the texture as is 🫶🏻

Picking through the abalone, scallops, and clams one by one was fun, and with so much seafood in there, the broth was refreshing and full of savory depth — eating the broth together with the seafood left me feeling really satisfied 👏🏻

The seafood dumplings too
We also tried the seafood dumplings we ordered alongside! The dumpling wrappers were packed full of seafood filling, really satisfying. Dipping the dumplings in the kalguksu broth worked really well together 👍🏻

Finishing with the kalguksu noodles
Next came the moment we'd been waiting for — finishing off with the kalguksu noodles!

The broth, steeped in seafood flavor, was so refreshing, and the noodles were nice and chewy! I think we cleaned the bowl 😆

How was it as a family outing?
Overall, this was a place where we could properly enjoy a kalguksu loaded generously with seafood 👍🏻 The whole octopus especially made for a hearty visual, and after eating the seafood, finishing with the cool broth and chewy kalguksu noodles left us really satisfied! Most of all, I visited with my family this time, and everyone enjoyed the meal and left happy, so I had a great time too ❤️ My desire to revisit was really high — if I'm ever craving kalguksu again in Byeollae, I'd want to come back here! 👏🏻👏🏻
