I needed to get some work done near Wangsimni Station, so I searched around and stumbled on Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch (어질 인 왕십리역점). It's such a famous place that I'd been telling myself I had to visit once, and I finally made it!
It's easy to reach from the station, so it was really simple to find.

Come out of Wangsimni Station Exit 6 and it's right in front of you!! And it's open until 10:30 p.m.!! Cafés that stay open this late are really rare these days, right? The long hours were a big plus for me too, haha.
I'd heard a lot of people say the atmosphere is wonderful, so I went with half excitement, half worry, but the cozy feel from the entrance put me at ease the moment I stepped in.
Is Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch good for working on a laptop?
Even on a weekday afternoon, there were really a lot of people. It seems to be well known as a good place to work around Wangsimni. The café is split over two floors, and it's quite spacious.
The moment I walked into the first floor, the toasty smell of baking filled the whole place, and it instantly put me in a good mood.
Maybe it's because I love the smell of bread so much, but that rich aroma hit me right at the tip of my nose and my mouth started watering on its own.
Seating on floors 1 and 2, and table spacing
Looking around every corner of the first and second floors, I found everything from tables good for chatting to tables good for opening a laptop like I did, so you can pick a seat to suit you. Best of all, the tables are spaced generously, so you can relax without worrying about the people next to you. That was my favorite thing.
Upstairs there were sofa seats, and they were so soft and comfortable that once you sit down you don't want to get up. The whole place was also really cool, just perfectly pleasant. It was so hot outside that it already felt like summer, but as soon as I came in, the cool air-conditioning wiped the heat away.
There's group seating too, so it looks great for coming with friends or coworkers, and there were more foreign visitors than I expected, which gave the place a lively feel.
What desserts did I try at Eojil In?
There were so many kinds of bread that I fell into a happy dilemma over what to choose.
I ordered quite a variety: Matilda chocolate cake, an egg tart, a financier (small almond butter cake), a madeleine and an Earl Grey madeleine. Every one of them caught my eye right away, and true to a dessert hotspot, the taste was as good as the smell.

The Matilda chocolate cake was pleasantly sweet and I loved how it melted in my mouth,
and the egg tart was crispy outside and really moist inside, so with one bite it felt like all the worries in the world disappeared. A bite of egg tart, then a sip of coffee: the combination is truly the best, haha.
Earl Grey madeleine and iced Americano
The Earl Grey madeleine especially was a real treat, with its subtle aroma spreading through your mouth.
The iced Americano I ordered with them was nutty and strong, a perfect match for the sweet desserts.
Eojil In gift boxes and Basque cheesecake reservations
The desserts are so good that the gift box sets caught my eye too.
I thought that if I ever need a gift for someone, buying it here would be great. The gift cases are so cute, right?? The signature Basque cheesecake looked really delicious too, and I heard it's sold as a whole cake and can be reserved, so I'm planning to order one next time there's a special occasion.
After eating so many tasty desserts, I felt a surge of motivation to work. The staff greeted me really kindly too, so I was in a good mood the whole time I was there.
