A sudden Phu Quoc trip! I had zero travel plans, then suddenly started scouting destinations and decided on Phu Quoc within five hours. Once the destination was set, I bought clothes and got everything else ready, and then it suddenly hit me.

"If I bought clothes, I have to do my nails too!"

Especially on a resort trip you end up taking so many photos. Wearing pretty outfits, eating delicious food, holding a drink at a café for a photo — your hands end up in the shot more than you'd think, haha.

I went to get nail art done as a little pre-trip gift to myself.🩷 The place I chose was Jsu Beauty Eyelash & Nail, Seomyeon Branch — the one picked out of all the Jeonpo beauty salons by someone who's obsessed with reading reviews!

Busan has so many skilled, reasonably priced nail salons from Seomyeon all the way to Jeonpo. Whenever I go somewhere new I tend to comb through reviews and actual treatment photos carefully, and this time was no exception — I searched for ages before booking, haha.

The goal for this set wasn't flashy art but nails that would look pretty at a resort and go with any outfit! I'm warm-toned, so I went in thinking about nudie pink shades, unsure which would actually suit me.

Which nail color suits warm skin tones?

Once I actually got to the salon, there were SO many colors. A shade that looks pretty in a photo isn't always the shade that looks pretty on your actual skin. So I had the expert recommend a nudie pink that would suit my skin tone.😍

I ended up comparing three different colors swatched right on my nails before deciding! The first one was nice, the second was pretty too, but the third one she suggested on top of those ended up suiting me best once it was actually on. I guess it really is worth trusting the expert's pick, haha.

Jsu Beauty isn't just nails — it's a total beauty salon where you can also get lash extensions and a lash lift, which is great for handling everything in one visit before a trip or a big occasion! I only got nails done this time, but next time I want to try the lashes too.

One thing I really liked was that they have nail shape samples ready! Being able to compare round, square, and other shapes directly made it so much easier to decide. I ended up going with the round-square shape.

Basic nail care, done carefully

For nail art, color matters, but I really think basic care matters just as much. No matter how pretty the color is, if the area around your nails isn't clean, the whole thing looks less finished.

She trimmed my nail length and used both nippers and a machine to carefully tidy up around the cuticles. She also shaped my nails exactly the way I wanted before cleaning them up neatly ahead of the color.

So pretty, right?? Exactly the vibe I wanted. Not a bold, standout pink but a soft, barely-there pink like strawberry milk, so my hands look clean and feminine.

Best of all, this kind of nudie pink doesn't clash with any outfit style, so it's perfect for travel nails! It looks natural with a dress, natural with casual clothes, and I think it'll look pretty in swimsuit photos too.

Once I have pretty nails on, every time I glance at my hands I just feel good. It's especially true before a trip. Add pretty nails to the excitement of waiting for a trip and it really hits — "oh, I'm actually going!"
