Cheese tonkatsu dinner for two at a Songpa sushi restaurant: Susi Seon

Today I met up with my close friend Cheongmo in Jamsil! We both love sushi, so while looking for good sushi spots near Jamsil, we ended up at Susi Seon Bangi Branch in Bangi-dong 🍣 Here's our real, honest review after eating there together!

I heard Susi Seon Bangi Branch has been running in the exact same spot in the Bangi-dong food alley for over 10 years — a genuine local favorite! Hearing that made me even more excited. I walked in curious to see what kind of place it would be :)

What comes in the 38,000-won couple set for two

Here's the menu board at Susi Seon Bangi Branch! It's a great-value sushi spot in Bangi-dong where you can enjoy sushi for around ten thousand won. But interestingly, even though it's a sushi restaurant, a lot of reviews say the tonkatsu is especially good! Tonkatsu at a sushi place felt a bit unexpected, so we were curious and decided to try it too haha.

What we ordered was the couple set (2 people) for ₩38,000 (sushi + tonkatsu + mini udon)!

This is the inside of Susi Seon Bangi Branch. The space isn't huge, but the tables are arranged efficiently so more people than you'd expect can eat comfortably. It felt like a good spot for a sushi dinner after coming over from Jamsil, just like we did.

And they had the origin of each ingredient carefully listed on the wall like this. Being able to check that made me trust the food even more :)

The porridge and jjolmyeon starters

While we waited, side dishes that go well with sushi like ginger and pickled radish came out first, along with porridge and jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles)!! When the porridge and jjolmyeon showed up, I thought, okay, this really is a proper local favorite haha. It felt so warm and comforting somehow... they won me over right from this point 🤣

How good is the fish in a 10,000-won sushi set?

And then the sushi finally arrived... how is this ten-thousand-won-range sushi?? The fish quality was so good and there was no fishy smell at all! Every single piece was delicious, and we kept saying so to each other as we ate haha. Thinking about the price made it even more satisfying. If you're looking for sushi near Jamsil, I think this place is worth a visit 🍣

And then... and then!!! I'd read reviews saying the tonkatsu was delicious and wondered just how good it could be, but after one bite I thought, "oh, those reviews were real." This is the tonkatsu at Susi Seon Bangi Branch!! It's not just one kind of tonkatsu ㅠㅠ — there's cheese tonkatsu plus several other kinds all served together! Every single piece was delicious...

I especially loved the tonkatsu sauce. They said it's handmade, and it went so well with the cutlet that I kept dipping piece after piece ㅠㅠ A sushi restaurant with tonkatsu this good feels like cheating... ㅠㅠㅠㅠ You have to order the tonkatsu. Seriously recommend it!!

Mini udon to finish: enough food for two

And then mini udon came out as an extra! It arrived right when we needed some broth, so we both went "nice!!" haha. With sushi, tonkatsu, and udon, we were seriously full. My friend admitted it was really good too, and with a reasonable price plus generous portions and great taste, we both left super satisfied!

Final verdict on Susi Seon Bangi Branch

The sushi was delicious, but personally I'd recommend ordering the tonkatsu alongside it without fail. For a reasonable ten-thousand-won range price, you can eat sushi, tonkatsu, and udon and leave completely full — the value here is really good. If you're looking for a good spot in the Bangi-dong food alley or for sushi near Jamsil, I think it's worth a visit 🍣 That's the end of my honest review!!
