Gwanggyo jokbal restaurant for group dinners: Cheongdam Jokbal
In short
Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) restaurant near Sanghyeon Station in Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, where domestic raw trotters are boiled in-house. The writer ordered the medium Set No. 1, which pairs warm jokbal with fire-grilled spicy jokbal, and added the complimentary makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) and a kimgaru (seaweed flake) rice ball from the review event. The fire-grilled jokbal really is as spicy as the staff warned, but alternating it with the mild warm jokbal made Cheongdam Jokbal a solid pick for a family meal or a work get-together.

Set No. 1 in medium: warm jokbal plus fire-grilled spicy jokbal

The complimentary bean sprout soup. Warm and spicy — a great way to wake up your appetite before the jokbal arrives!!

Set No. 1, warm jokbal plus fire-grilled spicy jokbal, medium size. Rather than just one style of jokbal, I wanted to try both the regular and the spicy fire-grilled version, so I went with the set.

After a short wait, a mouthwatering spread of jokbal arrived. Since it's a set menu, you get both warm jokbal and fire-grilled spicy jokbal, so the visual alone was hugely generous — glossy and delicious-looking.
How does the freshly boiled warm jokbal taste?
First up, the warm jokbal that comes as the base order!! The meat was incredibly tender, and even the lean parts were soft, making it delicious to enjoy as-is. The seasoning on the jokbal itself wasn't overly strong, so it paired well with lettuce wraps or salted shrimp.
How spicy is the fire-grilled jokbal? 🌶️
Unlike the regular jokbal, this one comes coated in a spicy sauce and is fire-grilled, so you get both a smoky char flavor and heat at once. The staff warned me it was really spicy when I ordered — and it genuinely is. If you're sensitive to spice, think twice before ordering.
For anyone who likes spicy food, I'd recommend ordering the warm jokbal and fire-grilled spicy jokbal together rather than just the plain one!! Eating the mild jokbal and then the spicy fire-grilled one felt like it reset my appetite each time — alternating between the two was really enjoyable!!

The free makguksu that comes with the set 🍜
It's noted that makguksu is provided free when you order jokbal or bossam at the table. I love pairing makguksu with jokbal, so getting it as a freebie was great. The tangy, slightly spicy noodles cut through the richness and cleaned up the palate nicely alongside the jokbal. If you're a fan of the jokbal + makguksu combo, this will be very satisfying.

Kimgaru rice ball from the review event
Between the spicy fire-grilled jokbal and the slightly spicy makguksu, eating one of these kimgaru (seasoned seaweed flakes) rice balls — mixed with mayo, kimgaru, pickled radish, and flying fish roe — hit the reset button!! Definitely order the kimgaru rice ball...
