There have been so many pretty cafés and delicious restaurants popping up around Jeonpo lately, so I find myself visiting often. On this day, I was just craving rich, chewy rare cuts of pork. I was looking for somewhere around Seomyeon or Jeonpo with good value and clean-quality meat, and ended up visiting the newly opened, much-talked-about Dwitdon Sanghoe in Jeonpo!

A clean, neat dining room

The first impression the moment I walked in was that it was so clean and neat. When you think of a restaurant specializing in dwitgogi (pork back cuts) or rare cuts, it is easy to picture an old-school spot that is a little dark or greasy. But this place was kept spotlessly clean, just like a trendy new restaurant!
The tables are tidy round stainless-steel ones, and each table has a tablet ordering kiosk, so you can take your time looking through the menu and order comfortably, haha.
Rather than a place 100 people visit once, we will be a place one person visits 100 times.
This phrase was posted on the wall, and I liked how it showed the owner’s intention to care for every single customer... The owner was really kind too..

The complimentary spread with tofu kimchi and bibim noodles

Once you finish ordering, a full spread of complimentary side dishes arrives. Everything comes neatly arranged on retro patterned plates, with a satisfying selection that goes wonderfully with the pork!
The basic setup includes pa-muchim (seasoned scallions), lettuce wraps, pickled onions, and pickled peppers. For dipping, there is salt, a house spicy sauce, curry powder, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and garlic on a neat divided plate!
And Dwitdon Sanghoe gives you tofu kimchi as a complimentary side... Before the meat was cooked, I had a bite with the tofu kimchi, and it was perfect for waking up my appetite! Bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) also comes with it, and it was tangy and delicious. The side-dish ingredients were fresh too, and you can easily get more of anything you need from the self-serve bar!
The Dwitdon Half-Pig Set, served with cut labels

Here comes Dwitdon Sanghoe’s Dwitdon Half-Pig Set! Each cut arrives with a little name tag, so you know exactly what you are eating!
Rare cuts you would not usually find at a regular samgyeopsal (pork belly) restaurant—such as gwansal, kotdeungsal, seolhasal, and donhangjeong—were neatly arranged on the platter, along with shishito peppers and mushrooms to grill alongside. We put the cuts on the charcoal grill by type and got cooking~

Different textures from each cut
- 🥩 Cheek meat & gwansal: These were lean and mild, yet pleasantly chewy, making them great first bites. A light dip in salt brought out the meat’s savory flavor.
- 🥩 Kotdeungsal & seolhasal: These had a slightly crisp texture and a distinctive bounce, releasing juices as you chewed. They went especially well with curry powder or the house spicy sauce.
- 🥩 Donhangjeong & donduroll: Richly fatty cuts that were crisp outside and moist within. They were an excellent match wrapped with seasoned scallions or lettuce.
Overall, there was absolutely no off smell from the pork, and the 1+ grade Korean meat felt firm and fresh. Each cut had a different texture and flavor, so we enjoyed every bite without getting tired of it!!!
Doenjang sulbap added after the meat

After the meat, we added doenjang sulbap (rice in soybean-paste stew) from the meal menu! The doenjang jjigae (soybean-paste stew) arrived bubbling in an earthenware pot, absolutely packed with tofu, zucchini, mushrooms, and more!
For days when you crave rare cuts in Jeonpo
Dwitdon Sanghoe in Jeonpo was a great Jeonpo restaurant where you can enjoy a range of high-quality rare pork cuts at approachable prices! The interior was clean and tidy, so it would be perfect for a get-together with friends, a date, or casual drinks too~
When you are craving chewy pork with real texture beyond the usual pork belly or neck, I think you will have a satisfying meal here.
