Today, I visited Yuumangju (유망주) Seomyeon Branch, a newly opened bar in Seomyeon. The business provided a discount for this visit, and we went as two people on a weekday evening—luckily, there was no wait!

I spotted this convex mirror before going in!

They said this was the photo spot, so I couldn't just walk past it—I took a quick photo before heading in, haha.

A relaxed atmosphere for drinks in Seomyeon
Once inside, it was cleaner than I expected, with a really comfortable atmosphere for having a drink 😊

There are so many bars in Seomyeon that it can be hard to choose, but I recommend this one if you're looking for somewhere new!

Ordering yukhoe shrimp jang-kal bibim and flying fish roe rice balls
Looking over the menu, there were lots of dishes that sounded great with drinks ✨ We ordered the yukhoe shrimp jang-kal bibim, flying fish roe rice balls, and Byeolbit Cheongha.

While we waited, they brought out honey-drizzled garlic baguette as the complimentary snack! It was nice to pick at before drinking. These little bar snacks are secretly important, and this one was easy to snack on without feeling too heavy. Sweet and salty—honestly, this alone could go with a drink!!

Jang-kal bibim with yukhoe and shrimp
First up was the yukhoe shrimp jang-kal bibim! Just as the name suggests, it comes with yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and shrimp, and it looked seriously appetizing from the start 🤤

Is the amount of yukhoe, shrimp, and jang-kal bibim even real?? There was seriously, seriously so much ❗️❗️ It was a super generous portion for two people! Isn't the best moment when eating yukhoe the moment you break the egg yolk, haha? Pop! Break it, mix everything up nicely, and dig in!

The owner also recommended trying the yukhoe this way! It was a combination of yukhoe topped with egg strips. The egg strips added a nutty richness, and they worked better together than I expected. I'm glad I tried it the way the owner suggested :)

After the yukhoe, we couldn't leave out the shrimp. The plump shrimp had such a satisfyingly chewy bite—so good :)

The jang-kal bibim had a lightly spicy flavor, but it wasn't overwhelmingly hot, so I kept reaching for it. The seasoning itself was savory and delicious even on its own, and it paired really well with the yukhoe too :)

The tender texture of the yukhoe with the mildly spicy jang-kal bibim made for a combination that never felt rich or heavy, so I kept eating. The portion was more generous than expected too, enough for two people to enjoy while having drinks ❣️

Flying fish roe rice balls that paired well with shrimp
We also ordered the flying fish roe rice balls 🍙 The owner must have a very generous hand—it's half flying fish roe, half rice, haha.

This is the kind of dish you keep reaching for once you order it at a bar, haha. Personally, I thought it was an absolutely perfect match with the shrimp. Highly recommended!!

For drinks, we ordered Byeolbit Cheongha 🥂 If you like sweeter alcohol, it's easy to drink without feeling too much, and it went nicely with the food we ordered today 😘
A good bar for Seomyeon meetups and dates
Overall, it had a nice atmosphere and tasty food, making it a great place to have a relaxed drink. Seomyeon is such a convenient place to meet up, so I think it would work well for gathering with friends or visiting on a date. The food portions were generous too, so it would be nice to visit with a group and share several dishes, and considering the prices, it felt like good value as well ❣️
The owner also said seasonal dishes are being prepared, so I'm curious to see what comes next. There are so many bars in Seomyeon that choosing one can be difficult, but this was a solid choice for atmosphere, food, and accessibility, so I think I'd be happy to come back.
Especially if you want to meet up on a weekday or weekend evening, eat good food, and have a drink at a bar with a nice atmosphere, it would be worth stopping by. If I visit again, I'll have to try whatever new seasonal dish they have prepared :)
