Sashimi set for three with futomaki in Sodam-dong, Sejong: Sushi Resto

Sushi Resto is a well-known spot near Sejong City Hall. It's a sashimi restaurant in Sodam-dong that also sells a wide range of menu items like futomaki and sushi. Everyone said everything was delicious, so I went to check it out.

It's clean and tidy from the entrance already.

Inside Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam: seating for groups, solo diners and laptops

Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam Main Branch is a Japanese restaurant located inside Icom Star City on Sodam-ro. Stepping inside, it feels trendy and clean. It's pretty.

It's a good atmosphere for group gatherings, family visits, or dates too.

It looks like it could easily handle a group of 6 or more, and solo diners could just sit at the bar seats.

We sat with my family at a comfortable-looking table. Nice touch — there's even an outlet.

What's on the menu at Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam: sets, sashimi, futomaki and udon

There are sets, rice bowls, sashimi, sushi, futomaki, and udon — so many kinds. Plenty of alcohol options too, perfect for a drink.

I visited with 2 friends, so we went with the sashimi set with cold soba as the noodle choice, plus a futomaki half. We ate so, so much!

The basic side dishes were pickled radish, ginger, and soy sauce.

How were the 12 pieces of sashimi in the sashimi set?

First up, the sashimi for one person! 12 pieces came out — yellowtail, salmon, tuna, and (probably) flounder. Perfect for the three of us to each have a piece.

The fish glistened with fat, and tasting it, it was soft and rich. Fresh, yet soft and savory.

They also gave us seaweed and sesame oil, so wrapping whichever fish we wanted this way was also delicious. The sashimi overall was fresh and clean, so it was enjoyable to eat. The slices were thick, so the texture was good too, and it had a clean flavor without any fishy taste, while still carrying that distinct umami richness of raw fish. There was a good variety, so it was fun trying each one, and it paired well with the sushi and futomaki too. Clean composition and flavor — sashimi that was easy to enjoy without feeling heavy!

Choosing cold soba as the noodle with the sashimi set

Next up was the cold soba.

The broth had a light, savory flavor and was delicious. Perfectly refreshing to cleanse the palate in between bites. It was clean and cool, so it went well alongside the sashimi and sushi. The buckwheat noodles were chewy yet soft, and the broth wasn't too strong, so it was easy to slurp down without any burden. Especially while eating the sashimi and futomaki, having this cool dish in between refreshed my mouth and paired really well. Overall it was light and clean, satisfying as a meal on its own too.

Recommended sushi and shrimp tempura in the set

The recommended sushi also came out. It included seared salmon, which I love, and everything tasted great.

And the shrimp tempura, which was more generous than I expected!

Warm and crispy, of course delicious, and it was great that the shrimp inside was so full and plump.

Such a hearty sashimi set! And keep in mind the futomaki half still had to come out too...! The menu items just kept coming!

Is a futomaki half enough for three people?

A big, hefty futomaki half. If it hadn't been the half portion, we probably wouldn't have been able to finish it all haha. It's way bigger than it looks in the photo.

Inside, it was packed full of raw fish, tempura, and vegetables. The seasoning was spot on and it was so delicious 👍👍 The futomaki had such a generous amount of filling that it was hard to eat in one bite, which was satisfying just to look at. Various ingredients came together, and each texture and flavor blended well, so it ended up tasting even better than expected. The amount of rice matched the ingredients well, and each bite brought out several different flavors, which I loved. A menu item with a different kind of charm from the sashimi or sushi!

Sushi Resto, a sashimi spot in Sodam-dong. Everything from the food to the restaurant's atmosphere was satisfying overall, so I think I'll come to mind whenever I want to enjoy clean sashimi and sushi in Sodam-dong. The sushi and sashimi were great, of course, but the futomaki and soba were each delicious too, so it was good for trying a variety of menu items all at once. The interior was clean and comfortable, making it a nice place to dine, and both the food and the atmosphere were satisfying.
