Sushi lunch course near Sejong City Hall: 10 pieces and futomaki

Sejong City Hall has a lunch menu, so you can enjoy sushi affordably even at lunchtime — and this place is also known as a sashimi and raw fish spot, so I went to check it out.

Where is Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam Main Branch, and what is the entrance like?

Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam Main Branch is on the 2nd floor of Icom Star City, 93 Sodam-ro, Sejong. The signage was clear enough that I could find my way even after getting off the elevator, so it wasn't hard to locate. Right at the entrance is a sushi bar where you can watch the chefs constantly preparing food, and there's a separate tablet for people picking up takeout orders, which looked convenient.

How long is the lunchtime wait at Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam?

The inside was already full of diners, so I waited a bit. If you visit right at lunchtime, keep in mind you might have to wait.

While waiting, you can look at the tablet at the bar, check photos and the menu, and pre-order — they'll bring it to your table once you're seated. I visited just after the office workers' lunch rush, so a table opened up quickly and I didn't wait too long.

What the lunch course includes: salad, and soba instead of mini udon

Here's the salad they gave us after being seated. The noodle course that comes with the menu is mini udon by default, but if you love soba, you can switch to soba instead — such a nice option.

The 10-piece sushi plate in the lunch course

First up from the lunch menu is the sushi. Order the lunch course and you get 10 pieces of sushi, with the varieties listed below. If you're a regular sushi lover, this will look like a familiar lineup.

Futomaki: how it looks and what is inside

Next is the futomaki (thick sushi roll). It wasn't intentional, but I've had futomaki at several places recently, and Sushi Resto Sejong's version was among the best-looking of them all.

There's a reason so many people order takeout from Sushi Resto. The taste is solid, and the presentation is perfect too, so you can enjoy a great-value meal.

Look inside and it's packed full — crab meat, sashimi, tempura, pickled radish, egg, and more, each ingredient layered in. Take a big bite and the flavors come together really well.

I can say without hesitation this was the best futomaki I've had recently. A friend who was trying futomaki for the first time ate it without any hesitation and said it was delicious — now I doubt she'll be able to enjoy futomaki anywhere else. Her first futomaki being at Sushi Resto!!

How fresh is the sashimi at Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam?

Sushi Resto Sejong was already known among locals as a sashimi restaurant, and maybe that's why — the raw fish on top of the sushi was very fresh, capturing both texture and flavor perfectly when I tried the sushi.

There were several sushi tiers depending on the set, and the more premium the menu, the more sashimi is added or you get pieces topped with the day's fresh catch, tuna, and other tasty fish. The basic sushi set is also great for eating with kids, so families use this place a lot too.

Udon and soba portion sizes, plus extra salad

The soba and udon portions weren't too large, so you don't have to leave any, and it was just the right amount to feel satisfyingly full! Plus the salad that comes with it had a tasty sauce, making the whole meal even better. When dining in, you can ask for extra salad and they'll bring it to you. Such generosity and kindness from the owner!

Booking the private room for group meals

Sushi Resto also has a room. For gatherings or important occasions, just request the room in advance when booking and they'll set it aside for you. The food is great, but these little touches make it an even more satisfying sushi restaurant.

This is the go-to Japanese restaurant in Sejong when you're craving Japanese food or sushi — some people haven't visited yet, but once you do, it's the kind of charming place that turns you into a regular.
