Insadong gomtang restaurant date lunch set ordered by QR: Wolhadong
In short
Wolhadong is a gomtang (beef bone soup) restaurant set in a renovated hanok in Insadong, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Anguk Station Exit 5. Over a date lunch at Wolhadong, the 2-person set — listed only on the QR menu, not the printed one — brought Wolha Gomtang together with a cold pork (naengjeyuk) sampler, and arriving just after the lunch rush meant no wait. The broth is gentle rather than punchy but still satisfying, making Wolhadong an easy choice for solo diners, a meal with parents, or a date.

Today's post is a review of Wolhadong, where I had a really satisfying meal on a date in Insadong! We had an active date planned, so my biggest worry was how to eat something filling beforehand — and I ended up with a clean, delicious bowl of gomtang (beef bone soup)!

Parking near Insadong: the thing to sort out first
Insadong itself doesn't have much paid parking support, so if you're driving, I'd recommend checking nearby parking lots ahead of time!

Wolhadong sits in the alley near Sudo Pharmacy, tucked inside Insadong8-gil. It's about a 5-minute walk from Anguk Station Exit 5, so it's pretty easy to reach by subway. Once you turn into the alley, you'll spot Wolhadong right away!

It's a modern renovation of a hanok (traditional Korean house), so from the outside it feels like a quiet alley spot — but stepping inside was a nice twist, with a much more modern atmosphere than I expected.

Ordering at Wolhadong: the 2-person set is on the QR menu only
Wolhadong's signature dishes are gomtang and cold pork! What sets it apart from other gomtang restaurants is that they use domestic ingredients and their own fermentation method for the broth. The menu is simple, so there's no need to overthink it — ordering the set lets you try both the gomtang and the cold pork, so I went with the 2-person set! (It's not on the printed menu, but it's on the QR menu!)

Seating at Wolhadong for solo diners and families
There are both bar seats and table seats, so solo diners can eat comfortably and families can be accommodated too. The clean, tidy atmosphere makes it especially good for visiting with parents!

How does the Wolha Gomtang taste?
The Wolha Gomtang's milky white broth made a strong impression!
Honestly, when I first got it, I worried it might be a little bland — but it wasn't at all!
It's not overpowering, just clean and mild — perfect for when you've been eating a lot of greasy or spicy food and want something to settle your stomach. Not overpowering! Clean! But not lacking in flavor either. Wolhadong pulls off the hardest balance.
The broth was rich but never heavy, making it easy to eat for kids and adults alike, and knowing it's made with domestic ingredients added to the trust. Great to bring your parents to, and a solid recommendation for anyone who finds strong flavors overwhelming!

Cold pork (naengjeyuk) paired with the gomtang
The cold pork paired really well with the gomtang, ugh, so good. The 2-person set comes with a cold pork sampler, and the accompanying sauce was a perfect match for the meat. It went well with the meat in the gomtang too, and was also tasty paired with the jang (fermented sauce). Two clean flavors that didn't clash — they just worked together.

They're currently running a Naver photo review event too! Write a review and get a 5,000-won cold pork sampler, one of their popular side dishes, for free!
Everyone, please write a review so you can have the 2-person set plus the event cold pork — please, I beg you, ㅠㅠㅠ
Honestly, the 2-person set alone is filling, but when something's this good, more is always better!

Is there a wait if you arrive just after lunch hour?
I'd been debating where to eat lunch on our Insadong date. After eating a lot of greasy, heavy food during the week, I went looking for something clean and found Wolhadong. We visited a bit past the lunch rush and there was no wait, which was great — the milky broth made for a satisfying meal, and since it wasn't overpowering, it was easy for both kids and adults to enjoy.

What could be better at Wolhadong
If I had to name a downside, it's that it's outside my usual area, so I can't visit often
I wish I could go more often but can't. It's a shame a place this good isn't closer to home ㅠㅠㅠ!

If you're looking for a clean, easygoing lunch in Insadong, I highly recommend Wolhadong. Whether you're eating solo, with your parents, or on a date, both the atmosphere and the food were satisfying — the only downside was that it's far from where I live, so I can't visit often. If you're ever in Insadong, I definitely recommend eating at Wolhadong~~ I'd absolutely go back!
