Today I'll introduce a Jongno restaurant, "Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch" :)

The Jongno restaurant "Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch" is located on B2 of Jongno Tower :)

How long is the lunchtime wait at Bonghyejane?
I visited at lunchtime and there was a line outside Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch, but it moved fast — only about 5 minutes(?). Guess it's a popular Jongno spot since there was a wait!

Inside, a spacious hall 👍🏻 It seemed newly opened and was so clean and comfortable haha. Plus there were seats ranging from 2-tops to large group tables, so it looked like it could handle groups too!

There's a sign at the entrance, and each table has a water cup and sesame oil ready to go.

Each table has a kiosk, so ordering and paying was easy 🤭

What's on the menu at Bonghyejane Jubang?
The menu board at Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch had everything from set menus to single-portion and multi-person set meals (jeongsik). We ordered the pork stir-fry set and the octopus stir-fry set.

Pork stir-fry set, octopus stir-fry set

Octopus stir-fry set: smoky flavor and a big bowl of rice
First up, the octopus stir-fry set :) Plump chunks of octopus generously piled on, and you can choose the spice level when ordering, so even spice-wimps don't need to worry ❌

It seemed stir-fried over open flame along with the vegetables, so there was a great smoky char 🔥

Underneath the octopus stir-fry sits a big bowl of rice (daejeopbap), just the right size for mixing, topped with seaweed flakes and a bit of vegetables ❤️

The side dishes were white kimchi, candied peanuts, pumpkin porridge, and seaweed :)

The small perilla seed soup that comes with every set
The set comes with a small perilla seed soup (deulkkaetang). I don't usually like perilla soup, but why is the one at Jongno restaurant "Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch" so good?? 🥹 The reviews were full of praise for the perilla soup, and now I get exactly why .. 💛

Pork stir-fry set: loaded with vegetables and good meat
Next, the pork stir-fry set! Pork with vegetables piled sky-high 💛💛 Cabbage, onion, garlic chives, zucchini and more all stir-fried together, which made it even better!

Different sauce from the octopus stir-fry! Both were delicious in their own way, but the meat quality here was really excellent 🤭

Mixing this into the big rice bowl made for a truly perfect lunch .. ⭐️

And the combo with the perilla soup that came alongside was so, so good — the little garaetteok rice cakes in it were amazing too 👍🏻😍
