Parking with a baby: why the basement lot in Songdo 1-gongu helped

On a weekend lunch, my husband, our baby, and I headed to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch, known as a popular Songdo lunch spot 🤤 Restaurants around here can be tricky to park at, but this place has a big basement lot, so parking with a baby in tow was totally stress-free! Among the Korean restaurants in Songdo 1-gongu, the parking convenience here really stood out haha.

High chairs and table spacing inside Eonyang Dak Kalguksu

It was peak weekend lunch hour, so the place was pretty full, but the dining room was spacious overall with plenty of room between tables, so it never felt cramped. There were plenty of high chairs too, and the wide gaps between tables made it super easy to squeeze one in next to us 👶🏻✨

On top of that, one side of Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is set up nicely for solo diners, so it looks like a great option if you ever need a solo meal near Songdo. There were also plenty of phone charging cables at the tables, super convenient for charging while eating 🔌🔋 hahaha. Turnover was fast, the vibe was bright, and the staff were genuinely kind!

A sign explained that Eonyang Dak Kalguksu's noodles are hand-made and aged overnight, then boiled fresh every 15 minutes! It said it might take about 15 minutes depending on the timing, but our timing must have been perfect — the food came out really fast after we ordered 👏🏻 Among Songdo lunch spots, the speed and quality of service here were 👍🏻👍🏻

Side dishes are self-serve — pickled radish, regular kimchi, and spicy kimchi were all set out.

By the way, the self-serve bar also had kids' dishes neatly laid out, so we didn't have to ask for any — just grabbed them ourselves haha.

Can you ask staff to warm up unsalted baby food?

And here's the moment that really touched me. Our baby is still on unsalted food, so we'd packed her meal from home 🥣 Some restaurants don't even have a microwave, and I always feel a bit bad asking during busy hours, but the staff here warmed it up so willingly and kindly that it put my mind completely at ease ㅠㅠ Looking around, I noticed quite a few other families with babies too!

How spicy is the spicy kimchi at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu?

The sign even warned that the kimchi is quite spicy, and sure enough, one bite in and I was going 'wow, that's really spicy' hahaha. But it wasn't an unpleasant kind of spicy — it was a delicious, addictive heat that had me reaching for more the whole meal through ㅠㅠㅜ

How the dak kalguksu tastes: perilla chicken broth with half a chicken

Finally, the dak kalguksu (chicken noodle soup) arrived!

Bowl of dak kalguksu topped with half a chicken

A big half chicken sat on top of a rich yet clean broth made from long-simmered chicken bones and perilla seeds — the visual alone was perfect 🍗 Overall the broth wasn't too salty or harsh, just nutty and mild, so it was great for feeding the baby too 😋 I set aside a little portion, rinsed it lightly in water, and gave it to her — she ate it up happily, which made me weirdly proud hahaha.

Lightly salted broth, and how to make it spicy again

A sign on the wall said milder broth is available separately for those who find it too salty! You can request it if needed, so seasoning adjustment is easy. And for those who like their kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) hot and spicy, apparently stirring in the self-serve spicy kimchi like a chili paste makes it delicious 🌶️

After setting aside the baby's portion, we sprinkled in some black pepper, and the flavor really came alive and got even better 🥹 Maybe because the noodles are aged, they had a springy, chewy texture that clung to the tongue perfectly 🍜 My husband and I picked apart the big chunks of chicken, slurped up the chewy noodles, and scraped the clean broth to the very last drop haha.

Who should eat at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu in Songdo?

The flavor is mild and clean enough that anyone — young or old — would enjoy it, so I'm already planning to bring my parents here next time we're out in Songdo! Highly recommend it if you're looking for a Songdo lunch spot, a family meal, or a solo dining spot 💖
