Inside and outside Hekbap Kkachisan Branch

The exterior is done up in a clean, white-toned design, so it felt approachable and comfortable even from a distance.

At the entrance there were photos and banners of the signature menu items, so it was nice to get a preview of what's on offer before going in.

There's a menu board right in front of the entrance too, so you can check the menu types and prices in more detail.

Once you open the door and step inside, the space is bright and spacious overall — a nice environment for a meal.

Further inside there are 4-top and 2-top tables, so it's comfortable to visit as a group too.

There are also single seats by the window, so you can eat comfortably even if you're on your own. When I visited, I actually noticed quite a few solo diners — it really does have that kind of relaxed atmosphere.

They're running a Naver receipt review event where you get a free drink for writing a review, so give it a try if you visit.
What's on the Hekbap Kkachisan Branch menu?

Beyond rice bowls, there's curry, tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), ramen, and more, so there's plenty of range depending on your taste. There are also set menus, so you can enjoy a filling, good-value meal all at once.
Ordering the pork jowl rice bowl set and tonkatsu curry
We ordered the pork jowl rice bowl set and the tonkatsu curry, and once they arrived, the table was already looking full.

With the rice bowl, curry, fried items and side dishes all laid out, the table looked really generous just to look at.

What does the pork jowl rice bowl taste like?
The pork jowl rice bowl comes with generously grilled pork jowl piled on top of the rice, so it catches your eye visually right away.

Taking a bite, the savory, nutty flavor unique to pork jowl comes through first, and the more you chew, the chewier yet tender the texture becomes. In particular, the meat had just the right amount of fat, so it wasn't dry and went down moist and easy.

Eaten together with the rice, the savory flavor of the pork jowl blends naturally with the salty-sweet seasoning, and I found myself reaching for another bite again and again. The meat itself had plenty of flavor, making it feel even more satisfying when eaten with rice.

Tonkatsu curry: the flakes make it
The tonkatsu curry comes with a big cutlet served alongside the curry, and the visual of the crispy fried tonkatsu was really appetizing. With the golden-brown breading and the deep-colored curry served together, it looked like a proper full meal just by looking at it.

With the first bite, the savory crunch of the crispy breading comes through first, followed by the moist, tender juiciness of the meat.

Eating the smooth, rich curry together with the rice, the savory tonkatsu and the deep, salty curry flavor paired really well.

The curry itself wasn't too intense — eaten together with rice and tonkatsu, it felt easy-going and didn't get tiring. Especially with the flakes mixed in, every bite had a fun crispy texture.

Finishing with karaage and condensed-milk rice cake
The karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken) also came out fried golden-brown on the outside, crispy enough to see just by looking at it. Biting in, moist and tender chicken was tucked inside the crispy coating, giving a light yet savory flavor.

Finally, taking a bite of the rice cake, the outside was chewy and the condensed milk inside made it sweet and soft. It let me end the meal on a genuinely happy note, right down to the last bite.
