Late-night jokbal pub in Bucheon with free platter noodles: Kkalkkali

In short

Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is a fried jokbal (pork trotter) and bossam pub on Bucheon-ro 29beon-gil near Bucheon Station in Gyeonggi. The order was a small half fried, half original jokbal plus a flying fish roe rice ball: the original was chewy and moist, the fried half crisp outside and springy inside. A free jaengban guksu (platter noodles) from the review event made this a third return visit among the jokbal spots near Bucheon Station.

I'm a pretty well-known jokbal (pork trotter) fanatic — someone who eats all kinds of jokbal and marvels at it — and today I want to introduce the jokbal place I rate as the absolute best near Bucheon Station.

I don't come to Bucheon Station often, but this is already my third time here! I posted about it once before, but it was so good I'm doing it again haha. This is Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch, already famous as a jokbal, bossam, and fried jokbal spot near Bucheon Station. Let's get straight to it, go go go go go.

Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch: storefront and jokbal boiled fresh daily

Such a clean-looking exterior. It already gives off a delicious vibe haha.

Fun fact: they boil the jokbal fresh every day! Timing your visit around the boiling time would be even better — though it's already amazing regardless.

Inside Kkalkkali Jokbal: outdoor tables and room for groups?

This is the inside hall of Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch! Clean and comfortable, with an open window wall that gives it a real sense of openness. And as you can see... there were so many customers I couldn't get a proper shot. That's proof it's a good restaurant haha.

The tables can be moved around, so I highly recommend this as a spot for work dinners, gatherings, or group outings near Bucheon Station!! Of course, it's also great for a family meal or a date.

Outdoor tables in front of the restaurant

There are also tables outside. With the weather this nice lately, it's perfect for outdoor dining near Bucheon Station, right?

What we ordered: small half fried, half original jokbal plus a roe rice ball

Here's the menu!!! We got the small Kkalkkali half fried, half original jokbal, plus an added rice ball haha.

Side dishes set up on the table
Bean sprout soup served alongside the meal
Plate of bossam radish and other jokbal side dishes

The side dishes come out first. The bean sprout soup is the real deal haha — goes perfectly with a bottle of soju.

Plate of additional flying fish roe rice balls

The flying fish roe rice balls were already set up in neat little rounds.

Fried jokbal vs original jokbal: how the two halves taste

And here it is,,,, the jokbal makes its entrance. Fried on the left, original on the right. The visuals are insane, right????

I snapped a full shot too haha. Is this really the small size? The portion is generous. I got so distracted wanting to eat fast while taking photos, my mind went blank.

Left: fried / Right: original

Fried jokbal on the left, original jokbal on the right

The original is really chewy, soft, and moist, while the fried one is slightly crisp with skin that's, hmm, tender and chewy? (Definitely not tough at all.) Both are delicious,,,

A piece of jokbal picked up together with a side dish
Fried jokbal placed on top of bossam radish
Original jokbal eaten together with side dishes

Eaten with the side dishes, you can keep going forever without getting sick of it. (Honestly, even just the jokbal alone doesn't get old haha.) Personally I prefer eating it with the bossam radish haha.

Slurp slurp munch munch, slurrrrrrp, slurp, sniff.

The bone section of jokbal, also known as mini-foot or shank

And then my absolute favorite part: the bone!!! Also called the mini-foot or the shank piece, the bone section is the best part haha.

Third visit to Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch: the verdict

I had such a delicious meal at Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch. No matter when you come, it's packed with people, and no matter when you come, it's delicious!! (For reference, the owner is super friendly haha.) Come here without a doubt and you'll taste the best jokbal near Bucheon Station~
