I'm posting my review of Hekbap Kkachisan Branch, a restaurant near Kkachisan Station where you can enjoy a really clean and neat one-tray meal. My husband and I visited because we were craving rice bowls.
What is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch?
True to its slogan, "a restaurant that protects the essence of rice," Hekbap is a rice bowl and ramen restaurant that ditches the fuss and focuses on the fundamentals and flavor of the meal.
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building, and climbing the stairs, you're greeted by a warm, clean, wood-toned interior.
There's also a bar table with single seats by the window, so it's a great Kkachisan restaurant to come to alone as well.

Hekbap's tips for eating a rice bowl the right way
On one side of the table there were tips written up for enjoying the rice bowl even more, so I tried following them.
- Before eating, don't mix — scoop the rice first.
- Put the toppings on top of the rice.
- It's also fine to eat with chopsticks.
- Try loading rice, then toppings, then wasabi to taste onto your spoon and eating it all in one bite.
★ Apparently you should scoop rice bowls with a spoon rather than mixing them, so you can really taste the natural flavor of the ingredients!
Salmon rice bowl, 15,900 won: the wooden-tray spread
The salmon rice bowl we ordered came out as a complete meal on a neat wooden tray.
Fresh, glossy salmon was beautifully piled high in the bowl, and in the middle sat a savory egg yolk, popping flying fish roe, onion, and radish sprouts — mouthwatering just to look at.
Following the instructions, I scooped the rice with a spoon without mixing it, added a thick, soft piece of salmon with a touch of wasabi, and put it all in my mouth — the salmon melted away instantly. It also came with savory cabbage salad, kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), pickled radish, and fried rice cake for dessert as the basic side dish set.
Cube steak rice bowl set, 17,900 won: what comes with it
The cube steak rice bowl set is a menu I'd recommend to anyone who prefers a meaty texture!
The juicy cube steak comes stir-fried with shishito peppers, mushrooms, onion, and more in a special soy sauce, all carrying a smoky char.
Loading a spoonful of rice, steak, and vegetables together, a salty-sweet, savory flavor spread through my mouth.
Switching to the set option made the meal much more generous.
- Mini udon: with a hot, deep broth, chewy udon noodles, and cute fish cake, it paired really well with the rice bowl.
- Two pieces of fried chicken: crispy chicken karaage topped with sweet, savory tartar dressing, which made a great side.
Naver receipt review event: a free potato croquette
While ordering, I noticed a Naver review event was posted!
After finishing the meal, I wrote a Naver receipt review, and got a free potato croquette, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Freshly fried, hot, and savory, the potato croquette was a real treat. If you visit, definitely take part in the review event and grab the freebie!
Who is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch best for?
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch serves such a clean, neat one-tray meal that it's easy to visit alone, and it's just as good as a date spot with a partner or friend. Next time I'll have to try the ramen, which they say tastes just like the real thing in Japan.
