Jeju Doldam Sangnam Main Branch is a Jeju black pork BBQ restaurant on the first floor of the Heritage Hotel in Sangnam-dong, Changwon. On a late evening when the writer didn't feel like grilling, they ordered the Jeju black pork assorted pork belly set and salted hairtail fried rice, and staff grilled everything over a movable charcoal brazier from start to finish. Jeju Doldam is an easy pick for a clean, no-fuss black pork dinner in central Sangnam-dong, with convenient underground parking in the building.

Changwon hair salon CS curl perm and crown root volume: VOG HAIR

VOG HAIR Changwon City Seven Branch is a large hair salon on the 3rd floor of The City Seven Skycon in Seongsan-gu, Changwon. To prepare for the humid rainy season, the writer got a CS curl perm with Tangrity, a perm solution for damaged hair, added crown root volume, and also received the salon's signature oil therapy and tips for drying hair at home. The curls came out natural even on damaged hair, making this return visit to VOG HAIR a satisfying one.

Jinju naengmyeon restaurant, early walk-in with a friend: Song Giwon

Song Giwon Jinju Naengmyeon Main Branch is a Jinju-style naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle) restaurant on Modeok-ro in Jinju, Gyeongnam, often named one of Jinju's three famous naengmyeon spots and certified with a Blue Ribbon and as a Centennial Store. On a summer trip to Jinju, the writer and a friend arrived early, walked in with no wait, and ordered Song Giwon 1997, a Jinju-style mixed naengmyeon, and Ujeon, pan-fried beef yukjeon. Verdict: with its seafood-and-beef broth and soft house-made Jeju buckwheat noodles, Song Giwon Jinju Naengmyeon is worth eating naengmyeon for again on a Jinju trip.

Etrenne Jukjeon Branch is a steak and Western restaurant on the 1st floor of World Mark West End near Jukjeon Station in Dalseo, Daegu. Driving on a Daegu trip, the writer reached Etrenne Jukjeon Branch by the bridge from the 2nd floor of the shopping-complex parking lot, then ordered the signature set: cream tenderloin steak and half-and-half lasagna with a grapefruit Bundaberg. Etrenne Jukjeon Branch is easy to find once you remember the 2nd-floor parking bridge, and both the taste and the presentation were satisfying.

Geumsong Deokmi (금송덕미) Haeridan-gil Branch is a European boutique hotel-style dessert café on the 2nd floor of a red brick building near Exit 4 of Haeundae Station in Busan. After a sweaty walk along Haeundae Beach, the writer and a friend shared fresh mango tiramisu, mango granita, Oreo cheesecake and an iced Americano at Geumsong Deokmi. Geumsong Deokmi Haeridan-gil Branch was a mid-trip recharge stop that delivered on both desserts and atmosphere.

Changwon hair salon tone-down color for pool-faded hair: Vivienne Hair

Vivienne Hair, Changwon Sangnam branch, is a large hair salon on the 2nd floor of the Baskin-Robbins building across from McDonald's in Sangnam-dong, Changwon. After a consultation with a designer, the writer had swimming-pool-faded hair that had separated into uneven color bands toned down with Objet color at Vivienne Hair, and the result was an even shade with a subtle gloss that did not look black or heavy. Verdict: for tidying up patchy, faded hair, Objet color at Vivienne Hair was a satisfying choice.

Beef BBQ in Seomyeon, Busan worth the wait: doenjang sul-bap at Sojay

Sojay Busan Seomyeon (소제이 부산서면점) is a retro-style beef BBQ restaurant in Seomyeon, Busan. After waiting more than 30 minutes on a weekday evening, the writer ate thick unmarinated LA galbi grilled at the table by staff, a tasting-size braised oxtail and doenjang sul-bap (soybean paste stew with rice). Sojay Busan Seomyeon tastes good enough to justify the wait, and the writer plans to book ahead and return.

Zoblack is a salt bread bakery in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan. On a morning visit, the writer and a friend each filled one of Zoblack's boxes for orders of 5 or more with Dubai, pollock roe, truffle, cheese and basil tomato salt bread (₩3,500–₩6,200 each), then reheated them in an air fryer at home. Zoblack salt bread stands out for its chewy dough and generous butter, making it a good pick to take away as a gift.

W Beauty Lash & Waxing & Brow, Changwon Masan branch is a lash, waxing and brow salon on the 6th floor of the Lotteria building near Kyungnam University in Masan, Changwon. On a weekday evening the writer ordered the Ganppa chicken skin tempura set (25,900 won) and Busan ssaek-ssaek odeng (fried fish cake, 4,900 won), with draft beer poured into glasses rinsed in ice water. With no chairs and everyone drinking on their feet, Ganppa Maekju is an easy call for solo drinking or a second round in Sangnam-dong.
