Hapjeong Korean BBQ 6-person room for a group reunion: Jeongyukdo
In short
Jeongyukdo is a Korean pork BBQ restaurant just a 1-minute walk from Exit 5 of Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. A group of former coworkers booked the 6-person room and ordered the Hanwoo pork set and the special-cuts set, with staff grilling everything tableside alongside melt (fermented anchovy sauce). If you're looking for Korean BBQ with a private room near Hapjeong or Hongdae, Jeongyukdo delivers.

Our last 'cheongmo' (former coworkers' meetup) of the season snuck up on us! This time we were all meeting up together, so we went looking for a Korean BBQ place near Hapjeong or Hongdae with a private room. Jeongyukdo, known for great meat, had a 6-person room, so we zipped over there — here's my review!
Jeongyukdo location and hours near Hapjeong Station

It's a 1-minute walk from Exit 5 of Hapjeong Station (Lines 2 and 6).
Hours are Monday–Saturday 11:30–23:00 (last order 21:30), Sunday 11:30–22:00 (last order 20:30).
Outdoor front — outdoor seating on cool days

Jeongyukdo, the Korean BBQ spot near Hapjeong Station, also has a spacious outdoor area. On cool days like these, outdoor seating is an option too!
Interior and the 6-person room

The interior has a clean design with an antique vibe. The hall itself is structured with small connected rooms, so even without booking a private room, it feels somewhat separated.

Here's what Jeongyukdo's 6-person room looks like~ There's no actual door, but it was really cozy haha.
Menu and what we ordered

We ordered the Hanwoo pork set and the special-cuts pork set.

Neatly arranged side dishes. Each table has salt, whole grain mustard, and wasabi on hand, so you can portion them out onto your own plate.

The Hanwoo pork set comes with raw ribs, pork belly, and flower pork neck. True to the butcher-shop concept, it even comes stamped with a price tag haha.

The special-cuts set combines pork jowl, skirt meat, and outer skirt. Just looking at the raw meat, you can tell the quality is good.
Each set comes with Hanwoo doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) in a stone pot. Since we ordered two sets, we got one doenjang and one melt (fermented anchovy sauce).

The melt gets placed on the grill along with the meat — the staff told us not to let it boil hard, just take it off once it starts bubbling.
Grilling the meat — staff grills it all for you

The meat goes straight onto the grill for them to cook~ With a big group, having everything grilled for us was such a relief haha.

They started with the Hanwoo pork set first. The color looked great, and the smell of it grilling was no joke..

The meat gets cut into bite-sized pieces and the cut surfaces are grilled a bit more before it's ready to eat!
Pork belly and special cuts, with the sides

Well-grilled pork belly, dipped in pink salt, one bite. Thanks to the quality of the pork, there's zero gamey smell and the juices burst in your mouth.

The chewy pork neck pairs well with well-fermented squid jeotgal (salted seafood). The umami of seafood and pork balance each other out nicely.

If it starts feeling a bit greasy, pile on the pickled onions. The crunch of the onion with the nutty sesame sauce is addictive.

Can't skip the whole grain mustard, a perfect match for meat~ It goes really well with the chewy special cuts.

Sweet and spicy scallion salad is another side dish you'd be sad to miss! There were so many varied side dishes to go with the meat that we never got tired of eating.

Final thoughts
Jeongyukdo, the Korean BBQ spot near Hapjeong Station, let us have a delicious and fun cheongmo in a cozy private room. Finding a tasty Korean BBQ place with a private room around Hapjeong or Hongdae felt like searching for a needle in a haystack, but Jeongyukdo pulled it all off! The staff were really kind too, and the meat quality was great, so I'll definitely be coming back often~
