A salad lunch box near Konkuk Station: the chicken oat protein box

With salad for lunch, the problem isn't while you're eating it — it's after. You get hungry again so quickly that you end up reaching for a snack, and then you wonder why you even bothered with the salad. Haha. So I went looking for a lunch box that combines rice and protein, and ended up at Y-Stave Diet Konkuk near Konkuk Station.

I had the chicken oat protein box, a salad lunch box near Konkuk Station, at Y-Stave Diet Konkuk. For 9,900 won you get 52g of protein and 487kcal, and the chicken breast wasn't dry at all — it was moist, and the oat rice made it a filling meal.

The menu works by picking a protein — chicken, smoked duck, beef, or salmon — and a base, from options like light, oats, pasta, tofu noodles, or cauliflower rice. I went with the chicken oat protein box, and the menu board in the photo shows calories and prices for each option. This is based on my visit in September 2026.

The board listed chicken pasta as the popular pick and chicken tofu noodles as the bestseller.

According to the menu description, the chicken oat protein box I ordered has 150g of chicken breast along with oats, chickpeas, lettuce, green beans, broccoli, bell peppers, olives, and onion flakes. Probably thanks to the chicken breast, it packs a total of 52g of protein.

How the chicken oat protein box tasted

What I hoped for from this lunch box was that the chicken would actually be enjoyable and that it would feel like a proper meal. No matter how good the nutrition numbers are, if it doesn't taste good while eating, you won't order it again. I figured a diet menu would come with some blandness I'd just have to accept, but it turned out to be more seasoned than I expected, and easy to eat. Instead of forcing down a bland diet meal, I could enjoy it like a normal lunch.

Was the chicken breast dry or moist?

What I liked most was the chicken. Whenever I order a chicken breast lunch box, I always worry it'll be dry, but the chicken that day was soft and moist. It also went well with the sauce.

It didn't feel like I was forcing myself to eat it just to get my protein in, which I liked most about this box. The portion of chicken was generous by my standards, too. It wasn't a case of eating one or two bites and being left with just rice and vegetables — it worked well eaten together. I was also glad I chose the oat rice. If it had just been vegetables, it would have felt lacking, but with the rice it felt hearty and like a real meal.

I'd worried that a salad lunch box would leave me hungry afterward, but by my standards, this one felt like eating a proper meal of rice.

The vegetables were so fresh that the lettuce was really crunchy. Eating it alongside the chicken and rice changed up the texture nicely. There were also chickpeas and olives, so it didn't feel like I was just eating lettuce over and over. It worked well together, rather than the chicken and sauce being the only tasty part while the vegetables got left behind.

I went with the recommended sauce, which had some seasoning to it, so if you prefer a very plain salad with little sauce, you might want to pick a different one. I felt like the sauce was a good choice for me, since it let me enjoy a diet meal without it tasting like one.

Is this Konkuk Station salad lunch box filling enough for a meal?

Before eating, I was half-doubtful a salad could really work as lunch, but by the end I felt like I'd had a proper meal. The portion was generous by my standards, the chicken was tender, and the sauce suited it well, so I really enjoyed it. At 9,900 won, it also felt like good value for what you get.

If I have another salad lunch box near Konkuk Station, I think I'd go for the chicken oat protein box again. If you're looking for a diet meal near Konkuk but want to keep rice in the mix and find dry chicken breast off-putting, this is worth trying.
