Where is Plate Dunsan Branch? One minute from Galleria Timeworld
I was looking for somewhere to eat pasta in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, and ended up at Plate Dunsan Branch. It's right next to Galleria Timeworld, so it's a great spot to eat before or after shopping or wandering around Dunsan-dong — I had plans near Galleria anyway, and parking and getting around turned out to be really convenient!

Plate Dunsan Branch is a pasta specialist using handmade fresh noodles made in-house! I'm generally a pasta lover, so I was curious how different fresh noodles would be from regular dried pasta, and the fact that you can choose from 12 fresh noodle types is a real draw.

For anyone hunting for a great pasta spot in Daejeon, the atmosphere here is good enough to suit a date or a family meal! Parking gets you 1 hour free in the building's underground lot, and since it's right next to Galleria Timeworld, it pairs nicely with a Galleria visit.
Inside Plate Dunsan Branch: atmosphere and dining with kids
The restaurant is set back inside the building, and from the entrance onward it feels clean and polished overall. The interior is done up in white and gray tones for a modern Western-restaurant vibe, the tables are spaced comfortably, and there's even a private dining area inside!

It's not overly flashy or loud, so it'd work fine for a casual date or a blind date, and since high chairs and kids' tableware are on hand, it's also a fine option to bring kids along!

Choosing from 12 fresh noodles at Plate Dunsan Branch
What caught my eye most at Plate was, of course, the fresh noodles. Beyond spaghetti, they offer squid ink noodles, spinach noodles, tagliatelle, pappardelle, and more, matching the noodle to the pasta dish!

I went with the pasta set (classic meatball Bolognese) at 14,900 won and the beef cheddar cheese pizza at 19,900 won!

What comes with the 14,900-won pasta set: salad, soup and bread
Ordering the pasta set brought along salad, bread, and soup too, so the meal felt like a pretty full course! The salad had fresh vegetables and a tangy dressing, good for a light start before the main dish.

The soup that came with it was smooth and nutty, and seemed like it'd work fine for kids too. Bread came alongside it, and dipping it in the soup while it was warm and soft made for a nice snack while waiting for the mains!

Ordering the set this way, with the appetizers included, made the meal feel more like a restaurant course than just a plate of pasta!
Classic meatball Bolognese: how do the fresh noodles taste?
The classic meatball Bolognese pasta came out first. Even in photos you can see the sauce clinging thickly to the noodles, and eating it, the meaty flavor of the ragù sauce was quite strong! It wasn't a pasta with just a strong tomato taste — the sauce had clearly been simmered with plenty of meat, giving it a heavy, savory depth.

The texture of the fresh noodles was noticeably different, too. Instead of the springy, snappy bite of dried noodles, they were soft and chewy and held the sauce really well, and the ragù coated the noodles evenly so the sauce and noodles never felt separate with each bite!

Eating the meatballs alongside added even more meaty flavor, making for an overall hearty pasta! If you're after pasta in Daejeon and you like ragù-style sauces, this one would suit you well.

Beef cheddar cheese pizza with sausage baked into the crust
The dish that impressed me most that day was actually the beef cheddar cheese pizza! At first I figured it was just a pizza loaded with toppings, but eating it, even the crust turned out to be unusual.

On top were beef and cheese, giving the whole thing a rich, savory-salty flavor, and the melted cheese paired really well with the meat!

What really stood out was the sausage baked right into the edge crust, totally unlike a typical pizza's edge! Normally I just eat the topped center of a pizza and leave the plain crust behind, but here I ended up eating all the way to the edge along with the sausage, and enjoying it right to the last bite.

The rich meat-and-cheese flavor would be a hit with kids, and ordering one pasta and one pizza to share between us made for a great combination!

Is Plate Dunsan Branch worth a visit in Daejeon?
This visit to Plate Dunsan Branch left a good impression — the food was solid, but I also just liked how clean the overall atmosphere was! As a Daejeon pasta restaurant using handmade fresh noodles, the classic meatball Bolognese really delivered a rich sauce alongside that distinctive chewy fresh-noodle texture.

And the beef cheddar cheese pizza felt like something different, with cheese and meat toppings plus a sausage-stuffed crust. Ordering as a set the way I did also meant I got to enjoy salad, bread, and soup too, so I was happy with the whole lineup!

And writing a Naver receipt review got me a vanilla ice cream, so I even got dessert! Being right next to Galleria Timeworld makes it a great spot to eat before or after shopping, and with such a clean interior, it should also suit anyone looking for a nice date restaurant in Daejeon or a good-looking Western restaurant in Dunsan-dong. If you want pasta with a different texture than usual, Plate Dunsan Branch is worth a visit. :)
