I was looking for a Hongdae dessert spot where I could rest quietly and still get a great dessert, and that's how I found Petrico — a brand-new café near Hapjeong Station with a soufflé pancake that's baked fresh the moment you order and a chill, easygoing vibe. This Hongdae café stays open through the Chuseok holiday, so if you're around Hongdae or Hapjeong looking for somewhere open on Chuseok day, I'd definitely recommend it!

Petrico is a Seogyo-dong café a short walk from Hapjeong Station, and its signature menu is a soufflé pancake baked light and fluffy — it made a perfect Hapjeong date café. 💓

Petrico — the name refers to the subtle scent that rises from soil after rain. The overall space had a warm feel, with wood-tone furniture and soft lighting blending together nicely.

Each table has slightly different chairs and tables, and they're spaced out well so the space never feels cramped.

Big windows along the window-side seats give a nice open feeling, and plants scattered throughout add to the overall comfortable atmosphere.

Some people were quietly reading, others working on laptops, so it seemed like a comfortable spot for anyone looking for a good café to sit alone or study/work at.

And blankets and cushions were provided too, so it was great for sitting and resting for a long while.

This dish comes with seasonal fruit, brûlée banana, house-made whipped cream, and maple syrup — isn't it pretty just to look at? >< 💗 So puffy and adorable!!!

Kiwi, orange, blueberry, and especially the sugar-coated brûlée banana, which has a crisp bite and tastes amazing!!

The fluffy soufflé pairs well whether you top it with the tangy fruit and cream, or drizzle it with maple syrup.

How long do you wait for a soufflé at Petrico?

Since Petrico bakes each soufflé fresh after it's ordered, it takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare, and can take a bit longer during busy times, so I'd recommend visiting with some time to spare. Also, besides the fruit soufflé, there are other options like chocolate banana and platter soufflés. 👍🏻✨

A glass of Petrico's omija ade

Made with omija (schisandra berry) syrup sourced directly from Mungyeong, it's sweet-tart and refreshing, great alongside the sweet soufflé. It leaves your mouth feeling clean.

When can you park at Petrico?

At Petrico, a Hongdae café with parking, weekends and holidays are relatively easy to park at on a first-come basis, and on weekdays parking isn't available before 6pm, but after 6pm you can park first-come during business hours. Good good!!

It also stayed open normally through this Chuseok holiday, so if you're looking for things to do in Hongdae or Hapjeong over the holiday, a Hapjeong date course, a Hapjeong soufflé spot, a Hongdae café with parking, or a Hapjeong café with parking, be sure to save this one!!
