Post-show dinner at Hey Joji, a Yeonnam-dong pasta restaurant

Caught the Fishing Girls show and headed straight to Hey Joji right next door for dinner. It's already a well-known pasta spot in Yeonnam-dong, so I waited a bit before getting in. They serve American home-style comfort food, and the vibe is great for a date spot — sure enough, both tables next to us were couples..!! Hey Joji mainly serves pasta, risotto and steak.

Inside Hey Joji: an American home in a Yeonnam-dong alley

Walk down the Yeonnam-dong alley and Hey Joji appears right away. The exterior already feels foreign, and since it goes for an American home-style vibe, the interior is bursting with that overseas feeling too.

It feels like visiting a cute American home decked out for Christmas. During the dinner peak the place was packed and there was a wait, but it thinned out afterward, so I got some photos in!

You order by scanning the QR code on the table, and they serve pasta, risotto, steak, salad and more. There are no photos on the QR menu, so I checked the pictures on Naver Place and picked whatever looked tasty.

Cajun shrimp rosé pasta and jambon butter cheddar pasta. I originally wanted to order a salad too, but it was sold out that day, so we settled on two pastas! Cajun shrimp was my friend's pick, and I went for the jambon butter cheddar pasta since it sounded unfamiliar and I'd never seen it before. The visuals were pretty too!

Cups are pre-set on the table, and pickles come out along with the food when you order.

The dishes arrived almost at the same time, so we could enjoy them together. The place was packed but the food still came out fast, which I appreciated. The bowls were also big and packed full of pasta, so the portions were generous too — loved that!

Cajun shrimp rosé pasta with four whole shrimp

This one was my friend's pick, the Cajun shrimp rosé pasta. As I get older I don't crave heavy food as much, so I usually lean toward oil-based pasta — it had been a while since I had rosé pasta.

But maybe because it was a bit spicy, it wasn't heavy at all! The sauce was really tasty and the noodles were cooked just right, al dente, so I slurped it up happily. I'd been drinking beer the whole show, so I was a little less than starving, but it was still good enough that I scraped the bowl clean.

There were four shrimp in it, and they were plump and really tasty. Shrimp were so good, haha. If you go to Hey Joji, I really recommend this menu!!! Not heavy at all, plump shrimp, generous portion, delicious!

Jambon butter cheddar pasta made with rigatoni

This was my new challenge, the jambon butter cheddar pasta. Unfamiliar name, unusual and distinctive visuals! But it's pretty, haha. Even prettier once photographed.

The pasta is piled high with jambon (ham) on top, plus a generous amount of refreshing cherry tomatoes.

Instead of regular pasta noodles, it uses rigatoni, so the texture was different and fun. The taste was also new to me — cheddar cheese flavor comes through, then a spicy kick hits, so it wasn't heavy at all and felt like something different. Actually this one is spicier than the rosé, so if you can't handle spice well, I'd recommend a different menu.

When you pay and leave, you can also grab some free oatmeal candy, which I love.

Is Hey Joji a good pasta date spot in Yeonnam-dong?

When you want a date and pasta in Yeonnam-dong but the usual menus feel a bit boring and you're up for something new, Hey Joji is worth a visit. Going for an American home-style vibe, the interior feels like a trip abroad, the menu is full of new options, the food looks amazing, and it tastes great too — a pasta spot worth stopping by when you're in Yeonnam-dong, Hey Joji!
