Lash salon in Gongdeok: forward-growing lashes to a C-curl, Iyo Shop

I've been terrible at makeup lately since I just don't have the energy, and when my lashes point downward my eyes look smaller and I somehow look even more tired. Doing eyelash curlers and mascara every day was also a hassle, so I went and got a lash lift at Iyo Shop, a lash lift specialty studio near Gongdeok Station.

I got the nutrition + black tinting perm, and for the design I chose a natural C-curl that lifts up softly rather than being pinned back too tightly. Bottom line up front: I loved the curl, but what stuck with me most was how comfortable my eyes felt the whole way through.

Where is Iyo Shop? A 5-minute walk from Gongdeok Station

Iyo Shop is at 2F, Unit 211, Park Palace 2, 143 Mapo-daero, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It's about 288m from Gongdeok Station Exit 3, so around a 5-minute walk.

Coming out of Exit 3 and walking straight on to the left, you'll reach the Park Palace 2 building. Unit 211 on the 2nd floor is also marked on the storefront directory outside the building, so you can check it before heading up.

You can take the stairs up to the 2nd floor, or if you use the elevator, get off on the 2nd floor and head to the corner on the right to find Iyo Shop. If you're driving, the building offers 2 hours of free parking.

Once you're up on the 2nd floor, you'll see the round Iyo Shop sign right in front of Unit 211.

Iyo Shop prices and the appointment-only booking system

Moisture nutrition perm was ₩45,000, black tinting perm ₩45,000, nutrition + black tinting perm ₩50,000, dual perm ₩70,000, under perm ₩30,000, brow perm ₩40,000, mascara extensions ₩50,000, and classic extensions ₩60,000.

Iyo Shop runs on a 100% appointment-only system, and the director apparently handles everything from consultation to design to the treatment itself in person.

It's open from 8am to 9pm, so it seemed easy to fit in before or after work. It's open on weekends too, so if you have a specific time in mind, it's best to book ahead.

Inside Iyo Shop: a clean, all-white studio

Stepping inside, the whole space was done in white tones, giving it a clean, bright feel.

There was a consultation table with a full-length mirror and a separate spot to hang your things, and the bed area for treatments was also partitioned off, so I could get my treatment quietly.

For a lash lift you have to lie there with your eyes closed for a while, so whether the treatment space feels comfortable really matters to me. I liked that it wasn't a busy salon vibe but felt private, like getting a one-on-one treatment.

What I got at Iyo Shop: the nutrition + black tinting perm, 50,000 won

This time I chose the nutrition + black tinting perm for ₩50,000. My lashes aren't especially short, but they tend to grow forward, so from the front they never really showed up as much as I expected.

That's why I wanted more than just a curl — I wanted the black tinting added too, so my lashes would look a bit more defined even without mascara. During the design consultation I said I wanted something natural rather than too tightly lifted, and we went with a rounded C-curl.

What stood out during the lash lift: the owner's handwork

What surprised me most this time was how fast the director's hands were. Fast didn't mean rough, though — her fingertips were precise but also incredibly delicate, careful not to irritate the eye area.

If you've had a lash lift before, you know that a botched job can leave your eyes stinging or watering throughout, which is rough. I was a bit tense too since it's a treatment right around the eyes, but this time I barely felt any of that discomfort, so it was more comfortable than I expected.

Because her hands moved so quickly, even lying there with my eyes closed didn't feel boring, and the whole thing moved along briskly, which I liked. The treatment took under an hour. For anyone who finds it hard to lie still for a long time, that's a pretty solid advantage.

After the lash lift: a naturally lifted C-curl

I was half dozing off with my eyes closed to the quiet music, and before I knew it, it was done.

I prefer a softly lifted style over lashes that shoot up at a sharp right angle from the root, and looking at the finished result, it was exactly what I wanted. The lashes curled naturally and rounded all the way to the tips, and from the front they were clearly visible.

With the black tinting added on top, it didn't look as artificial as heavy mascara, but it was noticeably more defined than bare lashes. Results can vary depending on individual lash length and density, but since I wanted a natural C-curl, I was happy with it.

I also took some close-up shots outside in natural light, and the curl shape actually showed up more clearly than indoors. From the side, you could see the lashes weren't bent at a hard angle but rolled up in a round curl, and the black tinting made the lash line feel even more defined.

The curl and color may look slightly different from photo to photo depending on the sunlight and angle, so please take these as more of a reference.
