Seongdong restaurant in a hanok: Huirit’s vongole and salad
In short
Huirit is a Western restaurant in a converted hanok in Seongdong, Seoul. I tried the burrata arugula salad, chopped steak, and vongole pasta; the portions were generous, and garden seating welcomes dogs. Verdict: a lovely place I want to revisit for a wedding-invitation gathering.

Huirit, a converted hanok in a Seongsu residential neighborhood

Today I came to Huirit (희릿), a restaurant. Since it is set in a converted house in a residential neighborhood, I passed right by it at first without recognizing it. This spot in the photos is the restaurant, so look closely and you will find it easily. The food was neat and delicious, so I mentally bookmarked it as a place for a wedding-invitation gathering :)

The interior is done so beautifully that it is fun just looking around -!! I love that so many restaurants with this hanok atmosphere have been opening lately.
There is no parking, but you can use Seoul Forest Public Parking Lot for a fee. It is conveniently reached by bus, and it is also within easy walking distance of the subway.
Rooms, the living room, and the garden have all been arranged with tables, so there are lots of different places to dine. We were shown to a room that seemed to have been converted from what was once the kitchen. The dining table and furniture suit this house so well too^^

There is a window to the outside, so it feels open yet cozy. The lighting throughout is so warm too.

I have become really interested in furniture lately, so I looked closely at the tables and chairs, and peeked at how they used the lighting too~~~ There is also a spot here where solo diners or couples can sit side by side for a meal.

The area visible outside is Seongsu’s dog-friendly seating. They even made a canopy roof, so you can dine there whether it rains or snows. Such an atmospheric space.
Burrata arugula salad and Western dishes
Ah, this is not just a place with a beautiful space; I fell for the food too! I do not usually order salad because I do not normally eat salad or vegetables. But it had burrata, which I love, and I felt like I was eating too many carbs and too much meat, so I gave it a try.
Burrata arugula salad

The moment I saw it, I said, “Wow, this is really a huge portion.” I loved how generous it was. How many bunches of arugula did they give us?!!! Arugula is often used as an extra ingredient with pasta and pizza, right? So it goes perfectly with Western dishes. Highly recommend the arugula salad...!!

Because after eating the arugula salad with the cheese and fruit, I wrapped the leftover arugula leaves around pasta and meat too... and it was seriously delicious. Such a good match!!
Chopped steak
Chopped steak ₩24,000

This dish has well-cooked flat iron steak with tomato sauce and all kinds of vegetables, including potatoes and onions. It comes with baguette too. First of all, I like Huirit because they give you lots of food. So generous—honestly, enough for three people~

It was so nice to have steak in the ₩20,000 range. The flavor is excellent too. If you are ordering pasta or gnocchi, get your protein from the steak!
Vongole pasta loaded with venus clams and Manila clams

Loaded with venus clams and Manila clams~~~ The butter and savory clam flavor work together beautifully. I love vongole, so I think I end up trying it everywhere I go. :)

The noodles have an interesting texture that is not ordinary. That must mean they were cooked just right, right?

I loved this butter + olive oil seasoning so much that I even scooped up every last bit of oil with a spoon.....heh

We cleared everything off completely like this??? It was such a delicious Seongsu restaurant that I want to eat there again.

When you step out into the yard, there are stairs and a space that looks like it could host a home party. So atmospheric, right -!

Dogs are welcome if you dine in the garden, so I recommend it if you are looking for a dog-friendly restaurant in Seongsu. I will have to come back for a wedding-invitation gathering :)
