Chodang-dong café with a stone-path patio: Coffee Dripper, Gangneung
In short
Coffee Dripper is a roastery café on Nanseolheon-ro in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, that has hand-dripped its own house-roasted beans since starting out in Gyo-dong in 2012 and reopened in a new space in May 2026. Walking over from Gangmun Beach, the writer ordered the Chodang tofu pudding, a coffee ice cream cup, an iced vanilla latte and a Valrhona chocolate financier, and the pudding was mild and easy to finish with as much yuja (citron) sauce as you like poured over it. Coffee Dripper is worth adding to a post-lunch café route in Chodang-dong.

Gangneung is famous for Chodang tofu (순두부) and Chodang corn, and I've had plenty of Chodang corn coffee before, but never a Chodang tofu pudding — so I had to check out Coffee Dripper. A café stop is non-negotiable on any trip, haha 😆

It's a roastery café that's been hand-dripping its own roasted beans in Gyodong, Gangneung since 2012, and it reopened in May 2026 with a new space and menu.
Coffee Dripper's exterior, parking and the walk from Gangmun Beach

Coffee Dripper stands alone as its own building, so it's fairly easy to spot even on a first visit, and there's a dedicated lot right beside it if you're driving. We'd just had lunch, so we walked over slowly to help digest and take in the scenery! It's not far from Gangmun Beach, so it's a totally walkable distance. 🚶♀️

Before you even step inside, there's outdoor seating with a bench-style space finished in white tile and small silver tables — clean and modern. Plus the greenery and stone path together give it even more character, haha.

There are tables on the other outdoor side too!

Isn't this little stone bag cute? Haha 👜 Guess it's going for a luxury-bag concept, lol.
Inside Coffee Dripper: wood tones and floor-to-ceiling window seats

Inside, Coffee Dripper has a wood-tone interior mixed with lots of greenery, which felt warm yet clean. 🪴 Totally my kind of space, lol!!

And the tables weren't the low ones typical of aesthetic cafés, so it was comfortable to eat, and the floor-to-ceiling windows made the space feel bright and open.

There's also coffee beans and cups for sale on one side, worth a browse! I love this kind of vibe 💚🤎

What's on the Coffee Dripper menu, and what are the signature drinks?

True to its reputation as a top café in Chodang-dong, the menu was pretty extensive. The signature items are the Dripper Latte (white almond mocha), the choco cone latte where the cone becomes the cup, coffee soft serve made with their own espresso, tofu pudding made with Chodang tofu, a pine forest matcha latte inspired by Gangneung's pine woods, and a lemonade sunset inspired by Gangneung's sunsets.
I agonized for ages because I wanted to try everything.... In the end we ordered the Chodang tofu pudding, coffee ice cream (cup), iced vanilla latte, and Valrhona chocolate financier! Now I regret not trying the Dripper Latte too, haha.
How does the Chodang tofu pudding with yuja sauce taste?

Coffee Dripper's Chodang tofu pudding had a soft, bouncy texture with a subtle, savory tofu flavor. The more you chew, the more the tofu comes through, and it pairs really well with the yuja (citron) sauce. Since you drizzle on the yuja sauce to your own taste, it's not overly sweet, so it's easy to eat without feeling heavy. It has a light, clean charm that's different from a regular pudding. 🤍 It's the kind of menu item worth trying at least once if you're visiting Gangneung — recommended!
Coffee ice cream (cup) at Coffee Dripper

It looks like chocolate ice cream, but it's actually coffee ice cream! 🍦 Made with their own espresso, so the coffee aroma came through pretty strongly. The sweetness balances well with the bitter coffee flavor, making it a great dessert, haha. And fun fact — it's still delicious even after it melts!! Lol.
Iced vanilla latte at Coffee Dripper

The iced vanilla latte tasted exactly like the one everyone knows! The vanilla flavor wasn't artificial, just a sweet, smooth latte that was easy to drink.
Valrhona chocolate financier at Coffee Dripper

Slightly crisp outside, moist inside, with the deep, rich flavor of Valrhona chocolate coming through. If you love chocolate desserts, you have to try this 🍩

Is Coffee Dripper worth a stop on a Chodang-dong café route?
I was really satisfied with Coffee Dripper — the interior mood, the seats, and both the coffee and desserts were all great. 💕 It's close to Chodang-dong's tofu village too, so it makes a perfect stop after a meal. 😆 If you're looking for a café in Chodang-dong, I'd strongly recommend Coffee Dripper. Next time I'm in Gangneung, I'm definitely coming back, haha.
