Today I want to share a visit to a quiet, good-vibe café in Chodang-dong, Gangneung — Coffee Dripper.

We stopped by for coffee after watching the sea and having a meal at Gangmun Beach. It's not far from the beach, so it was a nice stop right after taking in the ocean view, and having parking space right in front of the café made the visit that much easier.

The calm wood-toned interior was pretty, and the atmosphere wasn't loud or crowded — a good place to sit and chat quietly. Along with coffee, they had bakery items and desserts like tofu pudding, so I wanted to introduce this to anyone looking for a café in Chodang-dong, Gangneung.

Where is Coffee Dripper, and how close is it to Gangmun Beach?

Coffee Dripper sits on Nanseolheon-ro in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, a convenient distance from Gangmun Beach for a stop after watching the sea. There's parking space right in front, so we could park and walk straight in.

The exterior caught my eye first, with warm-toned wood and white blending nicely together. A large English signage reading Coffee Dripper was out front, making it easy to find. The clean exterior matched well with the green trees around it, so the mood was good even before stepping inside.

Cafés near tourist spots can mean circling around forever looking for parking, but at Coffee Dripper we could park right in front and walk straight in — very convenient. There were also outdoor seats by the entrance and around the building. On cooler days, sitting outside with a coffee would be nice too.

Coffee Dripper's calm wood-toned interior and window seats

Inside, Coffee Dripper is a calm space built around wood tones. The floors and walls were neatly kept, and the tables and chairs matched in warm wood colors, giving the whole space a comfortable feel. It wasn't overdecorated, but the plants, lighting, and furniture were arranged so harmoniously that the interior really was pretty.

There was a long row of seats along a big window, with trees and a garden visible outside — nice for sitting alone and sipping coffee quietly, or for sitting side by side with company and talking.

The inside of the café was spacious, and the tables weren't crammed together. When we visited, the overall atmosphere was quiet, so we could chat comfortably with a friend. These days, popular tourist-area cafés can get so crowded that ordering and finding a seat turns into chaos, but Coffee Dripper let us stay relatively calm.

What bakery items and desserts does Coffee Dripper serve?

In front of the ordering counter, a variety of bakery items and desserts were on display.

There were croffin (croissant-donut hybrid) varieties like chocolate, black sesame, and vanilla, plus baked goods that go well with coffee, such as salted butter financier, yuzu financier, and Valrhona chocolate financier.

The croffins in particular were piled high with cream and chocolate — they looked delicious just to look at. If you came in just for coffee, seeing the desserts on display might make you want to order one too, haha.

Besides the usual bakery items, Coffee Dripper also had tofu pudding, a menu item that feels very Gangneung. Since we were visiting with our baby, we ordered the tofu pudding.

What does the signature dripper latte taste like?

Coffee Dripper's signature menu item, the dripper latte, is ₩6,500, and it's topped with finely crushed nuts over a smooth latte. Every sip had a bit of nut crunch mixed in, adding a nutty flavor that gave it a different appeal from a regular latte.

It wasn't just sweet — the moderate sweetness blended well with the nutty flavor of the coffee, and the milk was smooth, making it delicious to drink. Even people who like sweet coffee but find overly sweet drinks too much should enjoy this.

With the crunchy texture of the nuts too, it was nice to enjoy slowly over one cup. If it's your first time at Coffee Dripper, I'd recommend trying the signature dripper latte.

Coffee Dripper's iced latte comes with regular ice along with cubes made from frozen coffee.

When you sip an iced latte slowly, the ice often melts and waters down the coffee — but here, thanks to the coffee ice cubes, the flavor didn't thin out even as time passed, which I liked.

The chunky coffee ice cubes looked pretty on top, and as the ice melted, the coffee flavor naturally got stronger. This would especially suit people who like to sip coffee slowly while chatting rather than drinking it fast.

Tofu pudding a 19-month-old baby ate all by herself

The tofu pudding is ₩7,000, and we ordered it to share with our baby. White and soft pudding topped with raspberries and a red sauce made it visually pretty too. True to its name, its shape evoked tofu, which made it feel like a fittingly Chodang-dong-style dessert for a Gangneung café.

The pudding was soft and nutty, easy to eat without feeling heavy. Our 19-month-old baby took one bite and it must have suited her taste, because she really ate it well. She finished the whole thing by herself, haha.

We'd ordered it for our baby's sake, but it was tasty enough that I kept reaching for it too, haha. The soft pudding paired with the tangy raspberry flavor whetted the appetite, and the tanginess in between kept the sweet, nutty taste from feeling monotonous.

This would also suit people who find overly sweet desserts too heavy, or anyone looking for a light dessert to go with coffee.

Bathroom condition and staff service at Coffee Dripper

Coffee Dripper's bathroom was kept neat and clean. When you're out and about with a baby, the state of a café's bathroom matters, and here both the overall space and the bathroom were clean, so it was comfortable to use.

The staff were also friendly, which made the whole time at the café feel pleasant. No matter how nice the space and drinks are, disappointing service can make you hesitate to return — but here, the atmosphere was comfortable from start to finish.

Is Coffee Dripper in Chodang-dong, Gangneung worth a stop with a baby?

Coffee Dripper, a café in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, left a strong impression with its calm wood-toned interior and quiet atmosphere. With parking space right out front, it was easy to visit, and with both indoor seating and outdoor seats available, we could choose a spot depending on the weather and mood.

The signature dripper latte, nutty from the nuts and pleasantly sweet, was delicious, and the iced latte with coffee ice cubes that never watered down was satisfying too.

What stuck with me most was the tofu pudding we ordered to share with our baby — our 19-month-old ate it so well. The soft pudding paired nicely with tangy raspberry, making it a dessert both kids and adults could enjoy.

The bathroom was clean, the staff were kind, and above all, it was nice to be able to chat quietly in an uncrowded atmosphere.
