Today I've got a review of Concasse Anguk, a hotspot near Anguk Station I finally got to visit on a relaxed weekday lunch! I finally had the time to go 🌿 Once I actually ate there, the atmosphere, plating, and food quality left nothing to be desired — I came away completely won over...🫶 If you're looking for a proper pasta restaurant near Anguk, definitely pay attention to this post!

A Bukchon hanok courtyard, easygoing enough for a solo weekday lunch
My jaw dropped the moment I stepped inside! The heavy traditional hanok rafters, soft fabric ceiling, and the lush green courtyard tree at the center all came together into an oasis of calm in the middle of the city 🌿 The tables weren't crammed together either, giving plenty of room for a quiet conversation. I visited on a weekday lunch, and quite a few people were there solo, leisurely enjoying pasta by themselves! The vibe is relaxed and comfortable enough for solo dining without any pressure ☺️ Highly recommend stopping by if you're out exploring Bukchon on your own!

In one corner of the restaurant, I spotted a plaque reading 'Master of Living — Beef Wellington & Lasagna Master' alongside a glittering array of cooking competition medals 🏅 The chef's impressive career was on full display, and my expectations shot straight up before I'd even taken a bite.

Three orders — lasagna, potato gnocchi, tomato salad
Finally, everything we ordered arrived! The visuals were pure art...🤍 Beef Wellington and lasagna are the famous two-top menu items here, and going through other blog reviews I saw plenty of raves like 'the lasagna here is the real deal' and 'best lasagna of my life.' So I picked the lasagna without a second thought, and also ordered the potato gnocchi and a refreshing tomato salad — three dishes in total!

🍅 Tomato Salad
Honestly, everyone — this salad was the total hidden 'kick' of the meal!! 👏 Plump cherry tomatoes, peeled one by one with real care, along with mango, smooth and nutty avocado puree, and a generous drizzle of refreshing yuzu sauce that cleanses the palate. The moment you take a bite, the burst of tomato juice, the softness of the avocado, and the bright citrus scent of yuzu come together perfectly — a real eye-opener.

Eating this in between bites of the cream-based pasta or gnocchi resets your palate completely — the best combination. Definitely order this alongside your mains! 🍊🥑

🥔 Potato Gnocchi
The two-tone plating of golden-brown gnocchi and a sleek squid ink gnocchi was so pretty. Crispy outside, chewy and fluffy inside — the definitive gnocchi texture! But the real highlight was the poached egg sitting neatly in the center of the plate!

Pop the yolk, let it run out, and dip the gnocchi generously into it — the nuttiness hits a whole different level ㅠㅠ

The rich mushroom cream sauce underneath, paired with crispy mushroom chip tuile, made every bite explode with texture and savory flavor 🥹 The gnocchi itself was chewy and delicious — less like pasta-style gnocchi and more like a potato yangaeng (sweet jelly)! It paired amazingly with the sauce.

🍝 Fresh Pasta Lasagna
The star we'd been waiting for — the fresh pasta lasagna! Instead of the usual square, stacked layers, the fresh pasta was rolled up like a roll and stood upright — the plating alone was a visual shock.

Slice through it with a knife and you can see the distinctive chewy-yet-soft texture of fresh pasta. The 'bechamel white sauce' spread generously across the bottom of the plate was genuinely insane... not runny, but pleasantly thick and rich, and it worked beautifully together with the meat-forward ragu sauce 🤍

This was the freshest, most upscale, and most delicious lasagna I've ever eaten in my life! I finally understood why everyone kept saying 'you have to order the lasagna' the moment I took a bite... The fresh arugula on top cut through the richness perfectly, so I scraped up every last drop of sauce 🌿

A wine cellar and evening date-night mood
Along the wall stood a large wine cellar neatly stocked with a variety of white, red, and sparkling wines. Visiting in the evening for a glass of wine under moody lighting would be the ultimate date-night cheat code 🥂
