Weeknight dumpling hot pot near Jongno 3-ga Station: Jongga Mandu
In short
Jongga Mandu is a Korean restaurant on Supyo-ro near Jongno 3-ga Station in Seoul, serving mandu jeongol (dumpling hot pot). On a weeknight evening the writer made a four-hour round trip from Incheon and ordered the half-and-half broth hot pot at the table kiosk, where the dumplings, meat and noodle sari all suited the deep broth to the last bite. Jongga Mandu was worth the four hours on the road, with a 100 percent chance of a return visit.

Why travel from Incheon to Jongga Mandu for dumpling hot pot?
I visited Jongga Mandu, a dumpling hot pot spot near Jongno 3-ga Station. Since it's near a transfer station for Lines 1, 3, and 5, it's really accessible, and I paired the visit with a trip to Tapgol Park nearby. This time I came all the way from Incheon, and to cut to the chase — I was thoroughly satisfied. I'd love to come back again.

Jongga Mandu's menu, kiosk ordering and self-serve zero-sugar drinks
Here's the menu board at Jongga Mandu, the dumpling hot pot spot near Jongno 3-ga Station. As you can see, there's a wide variety on offer, and we ordered the half-and-half broth hot pot. It was convenient to order right at the table via kiosk. Drinks and alcohol are self-serve. A nice perk was that they had both zero-sugar cola and zero-sugar cider — these days I mostly reach for zero-sugar drinks, and I'm often disappointed when zero cider isn't available, but here they had everything covered.

From the dumplings to the hot pot, with self-serve side dishes
The dumplings arrived looking delicious at a glance. They went into the half-and-half broth hot pot first, and true to the saying that good-looking food tastes good too, these dumplings lived up to it. Side dishes can be conveniently refilled by yourself. The portion we got initially was plenty, so we didn't need a refill. There's currently an event running too — just sign up for Naver notifications, and you get a coupon for a free drink along with the flavor of a royal court lady's cooking. It's simple to sign up, so I think it's worth joining. It took about four hours round-trip for me to get here, but the visit was absolutely not a waste of time. I'd highly recommend this place.

Friendliness matters a lot to me when choosing a restaurant, and the staff here were all kind, which makes me want to return as well.

The broth had deep flavor, and the savory umami really came through. It was addictively good — I kept reaching for more without stopping. The vegetables and meat paired well together too. Since the broth was so flavorful, the seasoning naturally soaked into everything.

The meat and noodle sari, right down to the last spoonful
