Noryangjin sashimi platter with free sweet shrimp, Seoul: Ttangkkeut

In short

Ttangkkeut Maeul is a live-fish sashimi restaurant at stalls 42 and 43 on the first floor of Noryangjin Fisheries Market in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, just left of South Gate 1. The medium assorted sashimi platter costs 80,000 won, was reserved by phone and picked up for takeout, and came packed with chogochujang (vinegar-chili sauce), soy sauce, ssamjang, fresh wasabi and chopsticks, plus a free serving of sweet shrimp. Two people ate it at Yeouido Hangang Park with ramyeon and beer and still had sashimi left over, so the portion is generous for the price.

Ordering sashimi takeout at Ttangkkeut Maeul in Noryangjin Fisheries Market

I picked up a medium assorted sashimi platter (₩80,000) from Ttangkkeut Maeul, a well-loved spot in Noryangjin Fisheries Market, and took it to Yeouido Hangang Park for a proper sashimi picnic. Now that the weather's cooling down, "hoecnic" (sashimi + picnic) by the river or outdoors is totally the move these days! 🧺🌿 So this time I went all in and picked up sashimi from Ttangkkeut Maeul, the assorted-sashimi favorite at Noryangjin Fisheries Market! 🐟

How to reserve and find stalls 42 and 43, left of South Gate 1

I made a phone reservation before visiting Ttangkkeut Maeul. Noryangjin Fisheries Market is a huge building with tons of stalls, so it really helps to know the stall number and which entrance to use beforehand!

Noryangjin Fisheries Market building and store directions

🚇 If you're taking the subway, come out Exit 9 of Noryangjin Station and the fisheries market building is right there in front of you. 🚪 As for the stall, just walk in through the "South Gate 1" entrance on the first floor — super easy to find. Right as you step in, you'll spot the sign for [live-fish stalls 42, 43, Ttangkkeut Maeul] immediately on your left! 🐟✨ No need to wander through the maze of the market — it's right next to South Gate 1, so the pickup route was seriously the best.

The tanks at Ttangkkeut Maeul: live flounder and red seabream

Peeking into the tanks at Ttangkkeut Maeul, I could see unusually large, vigorous flounder and red seabream swimming around actively — the freshness and quality of the fish was clearly top-tier at a glance 🌊

There was no fishy smell at all, and the cutting boards and prep area were kept spotless and hygienic. Watching them pull a lively fish straight out and slice it into thick cuts the moment I ordered really drove home just how fresh it was :)

What comes in the takeout pack: sauces, wasabi and chopsticks

Usually eating sashimi outdoors means the hassle of bringing your own sauce and chopsticks, but Ttangkkeut Maeul packed everything so generously and neatly — vinegar-chili sauce, soy sauce, ssamjang, fresh wasabi, and chopsticks — that all we had to do was spread it out on our picnic mat and dig in!

From Noryangjin market to Yeouido Hangang Park for a sashimi picnic

We headed to Yeouido Hangang Park ❤️ Here's my ride-or-die sidekick (?) Hyerim, working hard for this sashimi picnic lol 🩵

The second we spread out the mat, we ran to the convenience store to make Han River ramyeon and grab some cold canned beer — all set! 🍺✨

The free sweet shrimp and how much sashimi two people get

The owner at Ttangkkeut Maeul threw in a serving of fresh sweet sea shrimp on the house! 🥹✨ Dip it in soy sauce, pop it in your mouth, and it just melts while that sweet umami spreads through your whole mouth — pure art 🦐❤️

Free sweet sea shrimp served as a bonus

Even after the two of us stuffed ourselves with ramyeon and beer on top of the sashimi, there was still sashimi left over — that's how thick the cuts were and how generous the portion was! 🫢 We let it digest chatting away in the cool Han River breeze, then slowly and thoroughly polished off every last piece — total clear! ✨

Ran back to the convenience store for ice cream and Banana Kick snacks for round two! Eating good food in the crisp autumn breeze — best day ever! 🌿✨
