Outdoor wedding snap makeup at a Dangsan hair salon in 30°C: Charom

Today's post is an honest review of Charom Makeup & Hair, a place well known in Yeongdeungpo for great makeup. I had an outdoor wedding snap shoot coming up and was looking for somewhere to get makeup done — this place was close to my shoot location, Seoul's Noeul Park, and had great reviews, so I decided to visit!

Where is Charom Makeup & Hair, and how do you book?

Charom Makeup & Hair is within about a 5-minute walk from Dangsan Station. You can book through Naver or Instagram DM. Business hours and other details are in the image above :)

If you're driving, parking is available too! It was so convenient to be able to park there. And get this — it's free parking :)!!!

Once your booking is confirmed, they give you detailed guidance on your pre-appointment routine for the day before and the morning of your visit!

I showed up completely bare-faced to get my makeup done... so embarrassing haha. I'd put on basic skincare beforehand, but she layered on several more skincare products to help the makeup sit better! Charom's director is truly serious about base makeup..!!

I kept being amazed as each step of the makeup progressed... I'm not great at doing my own makeup usually, but my eyes looked twice as big compared to when I do it myself...? This must be what they call the touch of a professional.

Right after the makeup was done, we moved straight into hair! I asked for a low bun. I told her I wanted a few baby hairs left out and the tail end of the bun to be visible from the front, and she nailed that exact detail!

The best part was that her hands were seriously so gentle. Through both the makeup and the hair, I felt completely comfortable the whole time!!

I have pretty noticeable uneven eyes and facial asymmetry, but the makeup covered it right up...? She basically remade me as a person... hehe....

Dewy skin makeup for combination-dry skin

What I'd asked for was a dewy finish plus even skin tone, and I was com-plete-ly satisfied. My skin is normally extremely combination-dry and dehydrated, but thanks to how carefully she did the base, I ended up with skin I was really happy with, ㅠㅠ

There's a fitting room inside the shop, so I could change into my dress so comfortably! I'd been worrying about whether I'd have to rush into a public restroom or buy some kind of portable changing tent, but since the shop had a fitting room, changing there was so, so much easier and nicer!

In the photo my body isn't tone-matched yet, but after I put the dress on, she applied tone-up cream to my body too so everything matched!

Lip color decanted to take to the shoot

And she sends you off with decanted lip products too! Since you don't get to keep the lip product used on you during the makeup, she decants the main lip color and gloss for you, so if your lips fade a bit you can just reapply — it was so nice! I made full use of the cotton swabs too!

Did the hair and makeup last 8 hours in 30°C heat?

The weather that day was over 30°C... but I was able to shoot the whole time without the makeup breaking down at all!!

About 8 hours after getting my makeup done, we wrapped up with some four-cut photos, and both my hair and makeup were still holding up! Genuinely so satisfied!!
