Ganghwa duck restaurant with baby chairs, shrimp jumulleok: Deok Ori
In short
Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch is a duck jumulleok (spicy stir-fried duck) restaurant on Manisan-ro in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa, Incheon. Visiting with babies, the writer ordered the shrimp duck jumulleok for two, wrapped the charcoal-seared duck in lettuce with garlic and perilla leaves, then had the leftovers fried into rice at the end. With parking right out front and baby chairs on hand, Deok Ori Jumulleok made an easy stop for a meal during a family day out on Ganghwa Island.

Why Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch is easy with a baby
I stopped by Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch while out exploring Ganghwa Island, craving something good to eat. We visited with babies that day, and since a baby chair was already set up, we could eat comfortably. When you're dining out with a baby, checking for a chair is the first thing you do — having one here made it feel like a spot families could visit without worry.
Parking was available right in front of the restaurant. Not having to search for a separate parking spot made things especially convenient when moving around with babies. We could walk straight in after getting out of the car, which took the pressure off even with lots of luggage or kids in tow.

Shrimp duck jumulleok for two, seared over charcoal first
We ordered the shrimp duck jumulleok for two. After a short wait, the duck came out pre-grilled — not just cooked in a pan, but pre-grilled over charcoal.

Maybe that's why the food had this subtle smoky flavor running through it. Add that charcoal aroma to the duck's own seasoning, and it tasted so much better than if it had just been plain-cooked.
Since it comes pre-grilled, you just finish it off a bit more on a low tabletop flame. Not having to grill it for a long time from scratch at the table was convenient too.

Side dishes: mild Korean zucchini and braised potatoes
The side dishes that came out — things like zucchini and braised potatoes — were clean-tasting overall. They leaned more toward pairing well with the main dish than toward strong, punchy flavors. Since duck jumulleok is already a seasoned dish, these milder sides matched really well.

How big are the shrimp in the shrimp duck jumulleok?
Can you see how big the shrimp are?? I honestly expected small shrimp, but they were really plump and firm. It was fun picking out the shrimp tucked in among the duck jumulleok, one by one. It wasn't just a small, disappointing shrimp count — they were sizable enough to have a good bite, and they went really well with the duck.

I liked that it wasn't just an intense, one-note flavor. The duck jumulleok itself was delicious too. It's good just eating the duck on its own, but for me, wrapping it in lettuce was the best way to eat it.

Wrapping the duck in lettuce with garlic and perilla leaves
Put the duck jumulleok in a wrap, top it with garlic and perilla leaves, and the perilla aroma adds a whole different layer of flavor. Every so often, throw in one of those big shrimp too :)
Since we were visiting with babies, I naturally paid attention not just to the food but to how easy the place was to use overall — and having a baby chair was a point in its favor. Without a baby chair, you often end up eating while holding the baby, which can make the meal pretty exhausting. Being able to use a baby chair that day let us eat a little more comfortably.

Finishing with fried rice
After eating a good amount of the duck jumulleok, we were pretty full, but it felt like a waste to skip the fried rice after a meal like this. So as we got close to finishing, we ordered fried rice and stir-fried it up. Of course, fried rice is the ending. Frying the rice in the leftover sauce made it nutty and delicious. It felt totally different from eating the duck jumulleok itself, so even though we were fairly full, we kept eating. It was satisfying to wrap things up so deliciously to the very end :)
Where to eat near Jeondeungsa Temple on Ganghwa Island
Being able to eat shrimp along with the duck jumulleok meant that ordering just one menu item still felt like enjoying several different flavors. Wrapping the duck with garlic and perilla leaves in a lettuce wrap was delicious too. A lot of people visiting Ganghwa Island also tour around Jeondeungsa Temple, and if you're looking for somewhere to eat during a family outing there like we were, Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch seems like a solid choice. With parking available right out front and a baby chair on hand, it was a place that made visiting with kids a little easier.
