Gwangmyeong jjukkumi restaurant near Costco: flying fish roe wraps
In short
Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch is a griddle-cooked baby octopus (jjukkumi) restaurant inside AK Plaza, between IKEA and Costco near Gwangmyeong Station in Gyeonggi. After a Costco run, the writer brought her mom for griddle jjukkumi with the loaded add-on set (beef belly) for two at medium spice, wrapping it in sesame leaves with gim, shredded radish, flying fish roe and white sauce, plus complimentary egg custard and fried rice to finish. Her mom called it different and delicious, and Jeongipum Jjukkumi is a definite repeat visit.

Why Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong is my number one jjukkumi restaurant
Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch is a griddle jjukkumi (stir-fried baby octopus) restaurant between IKEA and Costco near Gwangmyeong Station. It's my number one jjukkumi place, hands down.

Honestly, out of every jjukkumi restaurant I've ever eaten at, this one is the best. I mean it, haha. Spicy-sweet, chewy, plump jjukkumi stir-fried with savory, tender beef belly. This is the griddle jjukkumi with extra noodles (beef belly) we had at Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch. It's so good I'll recommend it right off the bat, haha.
Where is Jeongipum Jjukkumi? Between IKEA and Costco at Gwangmyeong Station
It's between IKEA and Costco near Gwangmyeong Station. Stop by while you're out shopping at either one. We actually swung by after a Costco run that day.

The place is very spacious and comfortable.
Two servings with mom: reserving a table and being seated right away
I took my mom to Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch and ordered two servings. She'd been craving jjukkumi for days, so off we went to Jeongipum, the place we visit whenever the craving hits!

Since we told them what we wanted when we made the reservation, our table was already set up. We were seated right away and the food came out quickly too.

This place is always packed, even on weekdays. Every time I come, I'm reminded it's a genuinely great restaurant because there's always a crowd. There used to be a wait even on weekdays, but it does seem better after the expansion and remodel. Still, I highly recommend making a reservation before you go.
Anyway, our jjukkumi and beef belly griddle stir-fry looked incredibly appetizing even before it was cooked, right? Haha.

We didn't have to do anything ourselves — a staff member came over and cooked it for us, checking back regularly to see how it was doing.

How spicy is medium at Jeongipum Jjukkumi? About Shin Ramyun level
At Jeongipum Jjukkumi you can choose your spice level: mild, medium, or spicy. They told us medium is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, so we went with that — and thanks to all the vegetables, it turned out less spicy and less intense than I expected. If you love spicy food, go with the spicy option. Medium was just right for us.
How to eat the jjukkumi: sesame leaf, gim, shredded radish and flying fish roe
Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch even has instructions posted for the ideal way to eat the jjukkumi. Once it's cooked this well, all that's left is to dig in — so we followed the instructions as shown.

First, place a sheet of gim (dried seaweed) on the rough side of a sesame leaf.

Add shredded radish, bean sprouts, and jjukkumi, then top with flying fish roe and white sauce. I notice the bean sprouts are missing from the photo — I'm not a big fan of bean sprouts, so I left them out, haha.

Flying fish roe has to be ordered separately, but they keep bringing more white sauce and radish for free! The popping flying fish roe with the smooth, sweet white sauce is genuinely a perfect match for jjukkumi!

I piled on some beef belly too and took a hearty bite — pure bliss, seriously.
Complimentary egg custard and fried rice to finish

The complimentary egg custard (gyeranjjim) was truly perfect. And you can never skip the finale: fried rice!

We stir-fried it up and wrapped it in gim too. I thought I was way too full to finish, but somehow it kept going in... and we scraped the pan completely clean, haha.
It was a genuinely delicious meal out — it had been a while. My mom, who came with me, raved that it was so tasty, saying it tasted different from the jjukkumi she'd usually had, in a good way. I think we'll be back again soon. Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch is a hundred percent repeat visit for us!
