Magok GMG Tower Mexican restaurant: fish taco lunch set at Taqueros

In short

Taqueros Magok Main Branch is a Mexican family restaurant on the 2nd floor of Magok GMG Tower on Magokjungang 6-ro in Gangseo, Seoul. On a weekday lunch visit, the writer ordered the Signature Couple Set (fajita plus 2 tacos) with two apple mango ades, refilled the tortillas and sauces for free, and rated the fish taco the best bite of the meal despite not usually liking fried fish. The set is filling enough for two, so Taqueros works well as a Magok lunch date.

Taqueros Magok Main Branch: a Mexican family restaurant in Magok GMG Tower

Taqueros Magok Main Branch is a Mexican family restaurant on the 2nd floor of Magok GMG Tower on Magokjungang 6-ro. This time I went for weekday lunch and ordered the signature couple set.

Visiting Taqueros, a Mexican restaurant in Magok

Lately I've been totally hooked on Mexican food. I've made guacamole with avocado at home and turned it into open sandwiches more times than I can count, but that just wasn't enough. Fajitas piled with pulled pork and sour cream sauce, and tacos, kept flickering in my mind for days! And conveniently, there's a Mexican family restaurant right in Magok where I work — that's Taqueros, a Magok favorite!

Casual family-restaurant style seating at Taqueros

Taqueros Magok has a casual family-restaurant vibe, and the atmosphere is cozy enough that I'd recommend it for a Magok date or even as a wedding-invitation meetup spot. Since there are so many offices in Magok, at lunchtime you'll often spot coworkers having a cost-effective lunch-set team meal here.

What comes in the Taqueros Signature Couple Set, and how to order it

The Taqueros Signature Couple Set is a fajita plus 2 tacos, and for an extra ₩6,000 you can swap the fajita for BBQ pork rib steak. Mexican food usually means tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, and chimichangas, but at Taqueros Magok you can also get BBQ ribs that pretty much everyone, young or old, will love. We ordered the Taqueros Signature Couple Set.

Ordering a set menu also gets you ₩1,500 off an ade. We were there for the classic Mexican fajita and tacos, so we saved the ribs for next time and added two apple mango ades to the basic Taqueros Signature Couple Set.

Free nacho chips and cheese dipping sauce at Taqueros

We ordered through the QR code stuck to the table, and they brought out a free starter.

Free nacho chip starter

Not the bagged nacho chips you buy at the supermarket — these are fried fresh and crispy in-house!

The real kick behind the crispy nacho chips is this cheese dipping sauce — served warm, it's savory and has a really strong cheese aroma. Pure richness. That cheese sauce is the real deal!

Is the Taqueros fajita enough for two people?

Just as we were finishing the nacho chips, our Taqueros Signature Couple Set arrived. The set is fajita and tacos, and the portion is genuinely huge — plenty for one man and one woman to eat until full. It really does feel designed for couples. It's a good amount to share, and it looks great too, so photo-loving women like me will really enjoy it. There's a reason it's a go-to Magok date spot.

The difference between tacos and fajitas is that tacos come already assembled, while fajitas are DIY — you wrap whatever fillings you like into a tortilla yourself. Taqueros gives you plenty of filling options, so you can pile the fajita as generously as you want.

Free sauce and tortilla refills

For the fajita, you can add guacamole, cheese sauce, sour cream, and tomato salsa — everything except guacamole is refilled for free. Even the tortillas can be refilled, and we did refill once. The Taqueros staff are super attentive; they refilled things for us without even having to ask, which I really appreciated. :)

Meat and shrimp piled on Mexican rice

Under the fajita fillings is a bed of Mexican rice, topped generously with minced pork, pulled pork, smoky-flavored chicken, and shrimp — really appetizing to look at. I tried a bite on its own before wrapping it in a tortilla, and it was genuinely delicious even without sauce.

A finished bite of the fajita

I love shrimp, pulled pork, sautéed minced meat, paprika sour sauce, guacamole, cheese dipping sauce, and tomato, so I loaded everything into my fajita, and all those flavors came together beautifully. I've never been to Mexico so I can't compare it to the real thing, but as a Korean, this is a flavor you just can't dislike. And it has a slightly upscale taste too, somehow!

The two tacos included in the couple set

Fish taco vs chicken taco: which one wins at Taqueros?

The tacos included in the couple set are two kinds: a fish taco and a chicken taco. Of the two, the Taqueros fish taco was the best thing I had at lunch.

Both the fish taco and chicken taco are fried, but the raw onion, vegetables, and tomato on top kept them from feeling greasy and gave them a fresh, bright note.

The fish taco in particular was amazingly good. I don't even like fried fish that much, but this was so good I found myself thinking I'd have to come back and pay out of my own pocket next time.

Apple mango ade ordered with the set discount

And the apple mango ade, which gets ₩1,500 off with a set order, was refreshing and sweet, pairing well with the Mexican tacos and fajita. Definitely order the ade!:)

Is Taqueros Magok good for a lunch date or team lunch?

Lunch at Taqueros, a taco favorite near Magok Station, with a good-value lunch set! It was a weekday lunch, and there were plenty of couples squeezing in time during their lunch break for a Mexican taco date. Taqueros Magok Main Branch isn't just a great date spot in Magok — it's a Magok restaurant that people of any age would enjoy, so I'd also recommend it for family meals out or company dinners. Genuinely delicious❤️
