Ewha hair salon gray root dye fixes 8-month patchy tone: Eco Revy Hair

In short

Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch is a hair salon and head spa two minutes from Ewha Station Exit 3 in Seodaemun, Seoul. The writer, who gets gray root touch-ups every month, had Eco Revy Hair blend eight months of patchy tone at the root touch-up price, then added a Perfection 3 clinic shampoo and a One Kill Botox Cream treatment. For anyone worried about damage from frequent coloring, this was a well-matched combination.

Hi, this is Bogeuprem. My wedding is next year so I've been growing my hair out without much of a plan haha. I've got a lot of gray hairs, so I need root touch-ups every month and a full dye job about twice a year. Ugh, all that dyeing really damages the hair, but I can't exactly let the gray show while working either, so I went to get a root touch-up and clinic treatment together at Eco Revy Hair, a hair salon near Ewha Station.

Where is Eco Revy Hair Ewha, and where do you park?

Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch is within a 2-minute walk of Ewha Station Exit 3, so transit access was excellent. If you're driving, enter the one-way street between Exits 2 and 3 of Ewha Station, go straight 50m, then turn left — you'll find underground parking at the Yes APM building.

Drinks and the salon atmosphere while you wait

I arrived a little early for my appointment and waited briefly, and during that time they gave me a drink menu. I went with warm dungulle tea (roasted Solomon's seal tea).

Along with the warm tea, they brought out a snack. I was munching away when I was called to my seat pretty quickly.

Salon seats spaced comfortably apart

The space had a clean, modern white-tone interior — it looked like it could fit 4-5 clients at once, but the seats were fewer relative to the size of the salon, so it felt very comfortable. No factory-line feeling at all, and the staff were super kind.

How Eco Revy Hair evened out 8 months of patchy hair

For my wedding photos I'd heard lighter hair looks prettier, so instead of my usual near-black-brown gray coverage, I went lighter for about 8 months. That left my hair really damaged and patchy — not one thing or the other, just not pretty. The manager in charge of my hair looked genuinely sorry about it and blended all 8 months of patchy hair together at root-touch-up price... We matched it back to a clean, unified tone with my previous darker hair, and I added a clinic treatment on top.

Aroma scent and a neck and shoulder massage before coloring

Before starting the actual dye job, they had me breathe in an aroma oil scent and gave me a scalp, neck, and shoulder massage. Honestly, when you go to a salon you're often sitting for two hours or more, right? Your neck and shoulders get stiff. But relaxing with the scent and getting a massage before the treatment even started made me feel at ease from the very beginning.

A L'Oreal and Milbon dye mix with no red undertone

After carefully applying the dye, they checked thoroughly that the color was coming out right, let it sit for an appropriate amount of time, then moved me to the shampoo room. They didn't just use one product — they mixed L'Oréal, Milbon, and other brands to match my hair condition and get the color I wanted. If you dislike a reddish tint coming through when you dye, or hate an obvious line between your roots and existing hair, tell them exactly what you want during consultation. I didn't even mention it, but my stylist tactfully suggested it herself first.

The hair clinic that continued in the shampoo room

The shampoo room chair was a massage chair, so I got a massage the whole time I was there. All the clinic treatments were done there in sequence.

First, they washed the dye out thoroughly with a regular shampoo, then shampooed once more with the Perfection 3 clinic shampoo. You know how after dyeing or perming, that chemical smell can linger in your hair? This functional shampoo removes that leftover smell while also helping with scalp scaling and hair treatment care.

My scalp felt so refreshed once it was done — that stuffy feeling after dyeing completely disappeared.

One Kill Botox Cream and the infrared lamp

Next came a hair clinic treatment using One Kill Botox Cream. Since I dye regularly, my ends tend to get frizzy and dry. Rather than just doing a clean root touch-up, taking care of the overall hair condition together meant my hair looked noticeably calmer and more polished by the end.

To help the clinic product absorb well into my hair, they applied this infrared lamp, and put something like a warm eye mask over my eyes.

Finally, they applied oil to add shine to the surface of my hair.

Gray root touch-up before and after

Here's the moment you've been waiting for. This is the before — patchy before dyeing, lighter on top and darker below, uneven color that just looked messy.

And this is the after >< This is what you can get from a root touch-up, I'm so thankful

After the treatment my hair was so glossy, and I could really feel it had gotten stronger and firmer, which was extremely satisfying.

If you're worried about hair damage and need frequent treatments like dyeing or perming regularly like I do, I recommend Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch :)
