My hair was seriously in full natural-born-natural mode lately — the kind of frizzy that makes you scared to run into anyone. So before a trip, I decided I had to get my hair done and headed to the salon.

Walk up a little between Paris Baguette and Olive Young and Eco Revy Hair is right there. I'm a bit directionally challenged, but it wasn't hard to find. On the map it looks like you need to go up further, but once you're at Olive Young, you can see it right away.

Salon vibe and pre-treatment consultation

The salon was clean and I loved that the restroom is inside the store. You know having a restroom inside the salon is a huge plus, right? 😄 During a long, long session, everyone needs to go at least once.

When I arrived, they greeted me so warmly in a bright, high-pitched voice, almost like "I love you!" 😍 Then they brought out drinks and snacks at lightning speed. When I told them the treatment I wanted, they checked my current hair condition and carefully explained how they'd approach it and what to watch out for, telling me the price upfront so I could relax through the whole treatment.

Hair condition before the treatment

I'd had a magic straightening treatment 8 months earlier and, since I didn't take care of it properly (lazy me, T_T), my hair was pretty damaged. The straightening had mostly grown out too, and it was so frizzy during monsoon season... I just tied it up carelessly until the heat wave passed before finally coming to the salon.

Starting the volume magic straightening

Sat down in the salon chair and thought, who even is this uggo staring back at me... Looking in the mirror, they simulated which sections needed pulling and which needed adding volume.

They kept explaining what each step was as they went. Since my hair was damaged, they also did a nutrition treatment.

For the neutralizing step, the damage level varied by section, so it took longer, but they staggered the timing across sections to minimize further damage.

This is after washing and blow-drying. I didn't include the full photo, but even just this much shows how much calmer it looked compared to before — I joked that I could probably just leave now, haha.

One more pass with the straightening iron. Straightening calms hair down, but I don't like it when it kills crown volume and makes the ends fall in a dead-straight line, so I chose volume magic straightening instead. Here they're shaping the ends with some volume too.

Watching the process, I noticed regulars kept coming in the whole time. They seemed to do men's hair well too — quite a few guys came in.

I'd been curious about the back of my hair, and seeing the photo they took, I was so touched, T_T. My hair turned out amazing. I'd been losing a lot of hair too so I had tons of flyaways, but they tamed the frizz so well and my hair was so swishy that I kept touching it on the bus the whole way home, haha.

So happy, so happy. Doesn't the bottom part look like it was permed? It falls so naturally, I love it.

I was so excited I even took a video. I told myself I'd apply essence properly and take good care of it once I got home.
