Thai restaurant near Sangam Stadium, 15 min walk: Drunken Thai

Looking for somewhere to eat dinner near DMC ⚽️ before an FC Seoul match, my friend went 'oh wait, that place is supposed to be good!' — so here's my review of Drunken Thai. It's a 15-minute walk to Sangam Stadium, so it's perfect for football fans who'd rather skip the crowds around Hapjeong Station.

Drunken Thai Sangam branch: location and atmosphere

Drunken Thai, a lunch spot in Sangam, is just a 10-minute walk from Digital Media City Station! There's a bus stop right outside too, so it's very easy to get to.

Here's the inside. The Thai vibe hits you the second you walk in. I honestly can't put my finger on exactly what makes a place feel 'Thai,' but you know that feeling, right?!!

The color palette inside was really varied, but somehow it all came together in a way I didn't expect. It was fun just looking around the space.

Menu and prices — how do you tell which dishes have cilantro?

You order at the kiosk near the entrance. There's also a physical menu board — the staff explained that of the photo menu items, the top row has cilantro and the bottom row doesn't. Here's a quick rundown of the menu :)

Shrimp khao pad ₩11,500 — fried rice packed with shrimp, fluffy grains

This is the shrimp khao pad. It's fried rice, and you can choose shrimp or squid — we're shrimp people so we went with shrimp haha.

The amount of shrimp was really generous, and the rice was perfectly fluffy and delicious. Plenty of egg, onion, and other vegetables mixed in too.

They sprinkled on some of the peanuts that were set out on every table. That peanut topping really brought out the nutty flavor — way more aromatic after sprinkling it on than before, haha.

The shrimp were nice and plump, and the fried rice came out right after being cooked, so we got to eat it piping hot.

Seafood pad thai ₩14,000 — my personal favorite of the day!!

This is the seafood pad thai. This was my number one pick of the day!! Loaded with shrimp, bean sprouts, stir-fried noodles, and vegetables.

The shrimp were huge, haha — honestly I could skip grilled prawns this year after this. The bouncy, springy bite was a work of art.

The seafood pad thai leaned a bit sweeter than salty, so if you're a fan of sweet flavors, this dish will 100% satisfy you!! And eating it alongside the savory fried rice was such a great combo. Bottom line: khao pad + pad thai combo is a must!

Beef pho ₩15,000 — rich broth with thick-cut beef

This is the beef pho. Steam rising off it and a broth that looks rich just from a glance!! The pho aroma hit me the second it arrived.

What surprised me was the thickness of the beef — I'd never seen pho with beef slices this thick before lol. There were about three big chunks of meat.

The beef was cooked tender, and eating it with the deep broth plus fragrant cilantro was just so good, haha.

Table condiments and the kai look koei we got as a free extra

① Condiments and toppings

Every table has peanuts, chili peppers, pickled radish, and other condiments and toppings set out. We really love peanuts haha, so we sprinkled them on every single dish we ordered that day.

② Kai look koei

The owner told us it's about to be added to the menu and gave us a free Thai-style fried egg dish called kai look koei haha. He said to eat it like a dessert, so we tried it after finishing everything we ordered — sweet, yet nutty, yet clean-tasting, it really settled everything down in my mouth, haha.

Dinner before the match in Sangam — the verdict?

Ahhh...!! I'm so, so happy I found a good restaurant near the World Cup Stadium!! ㅠㅠ Farewell to all those past days of wandering around Sangam looking for good food and ending up at a food truck!! All three dishes were satisfying, and the owner's kindness made the meal even better. I'm definitely coming back for the next home match, haha.
