Tteok-twi-sun set with eomuk soup, a Yeonnam-dong late-night snack

In short

Eungkeum Tteokbokki Yeonnam Branch is a 24-hour Korean snack bar and pocha (street food pub) near Exit 3 of Hongik University Station in Mapo, Seoul. The writer ordered the tteokbokki + fried assortment + sundae set with fried tofu skin eomuk soup and fresh lemonade, plus a free order of popcorn mandu. It works well as a solo lunch or as a second-round spot after drinks in Yeonnam-dong.

Signature photo of the tteok-twi-sun set at Eungkeum Tteokbokki Yeonnam Branch

I found this place while looking for good tteokbokki in Yeonnam-dong, but it's really more than a snack bar — they serve fried chicken, fried rice, charcoal-grilled pork rice bowls, mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), eomuk (fish cake) soup, plus coffee, juice, soju and beer. The menu range was surprisingly wide.

What I liked most was that it's open 24 hours, so you're not tied to any particular time. It's a solid, filling lunch spot, and later at night it works well as a second-round place after drinks in Yeonnam-dong.

The open-window atmosphere inside

Casual, clean interior of Eungkeum Tteokbokki Yeonnam Branch

Eungkeum Tteokbokki has a casual but clean interior.

Seating area with the window wall fully open

What stuck with me most was the big window wall. With it thrown wide open, cool air drifted in and the whole place felt airy instead of stuffy. On a nice day, eating with the window open like this gives you a bit of that street-food-tent feeling.

Yeonnam-dong itself is packed with stylish restaurants and cafés, so atmosphere matters when picking a place to eat. This one wasn't overly done up — easy to walk into and just eat. Good for a casual meal with a friend, and not awkward at all for eating alone.

One of the best things about Eungkeum Tteokbokki is just how varied the menu is. You can order from the kiosk near the entrance or via table order.

As the name suggests, tteokbokki is the base, but beyond that — and fried snacks and sundae (blood sausage) — there's fried chicken, fried rice, charcoal-grilled pork rice bowls, mini gimbap, fried tofu eomuk soup, and more, for both meals and drinking snacks. There's also coffee, juice, ade, plus soju and beer, so the vibe changes completely in the evening. It's great with a soju alongside the tteokbokki, or beer with the fried snacks.

If you're looking for a second-round spot after drinks, this kind of place is quietly practical. After meat or a meal for round one, tteokbokki and eomuk soup make a solid round-two snack with more drinks. It's a good pick if you're after Yeonnam-dong snack food or a bar in the area.

The tteok-twi-sun (tteokbokki + fried assortment + sundae) set with fried tofu eomuk soup. This set includes tteokbokki, a fried assortment, sundae, and eomuk soup all together, so it's perfect for a day when you want to try a bit of everything. At a snack bar you often want tteokbokki, fried food, sundae, and soup all at once — ordering them separately can add up fast, but this set solves that in one go.

Tteokbokki + fried assortment + sundae + fried tofu eomuk soup. This combination really suits a day when you want to eat a bit of everything. Great for sharing with a friend, and a good pick when you want to enjoy several types of snack food at once.

It's good on its own, but dipping the fried assortment into the tteokbokki sauce is a must too.

Sundae

With the sundae added, every dish had a different texture, so I kept reaching for more. Just tteokbokki alone would have felt a bit lacking, but with the fried food, sundae, and soup together, I got to enjoy a good variety of flavors. I'd recommend the tteok-twi-sun set to anyone who wants to try several kinds of snack food together.

A warm soup like eomuk soup really rounds out a snack food meal. Between bites of tteokbokki, fried food and sundae, a spoonful of hot broth cleared my palate and kept me going. The fried tofu gave it a different feel from a plain eomuk-only soup. It would go even better if you're ordering alcohol too. If you're after a Yeonnam-dong pocha with a good soup-based side dish, I'd recommend adding the fried tofu eomuk soup.

After all the rich flavors, the tangy lemonade hit the spot. Bright lemon and refreshing carbonation reset the palate each time. If you're not drinking, fresh lemonade pairs really well with the snack food too.

Verdict: good for a second round or late-night snack in Yeonnam-dong

One of the standout points was the 24-hour operation. Yeonnam-dong is a hotspot that draws crowds late into the night, but options for a simple late-night bite can be surprisingly limited. That's where a 24-hour Eungkeum Tteokbokki comes in handy.

At lunch, it's a solid Yeonnam-dong snack food meal, easy enough for eating alone too. In the evening, tteokbokki, fried food, and eomuk soup make good company for soju or beer. It's a fine choice for a second round after a meal, and also works well as a late-night snack stop when you're hungry after hours.

Since the menu itself is so varied, it's easy to satisfy a group where one person wants snack food and another wants rice or fried chicken. If you're looking for Yeonnam-dong takeout too, I'd recommend getting it to go and enjoying it at home or your accommodation~
