Yeonnam-dong Japanese restaurant, shio yakisoba at Jojo
In short
Jojo Yeonnam Branch is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. Four of us shared mentaiko monjayaki, okonomiyaki, and two yakisoba dishes, with the shio yakisoba becoming my favorite first taste. A great choice for comparing several fun griddle dishes.

A great Japanese spot in Yeonnam-dong 🍽️ Jojo Yeonnam Branch (죠죠 연남점) 🍽️

They are open daily from 11:30 to 22:00. On weekdays, the break is 15:20–17:00 and last orders are at 14:30 / 21:10; on weekends, the break is 16:00–17:00 and last orders are at 15:10 / 21:10. There is no parking, so use a nearby public parking lot.
Today, I’m introducing Jojo Yeonnam Branch, where we properly enjoyed everything from monjayaki to okonomiyaki and yakisoba in Yeonnam-dong!

Yeonnam-dong teppanyaki atmosphere and tables
Jojo is in Yeonnam-dong, making it a great stop while on a date around Hongdae or Yeonnam-dong! With the windows open in this pleasantly cool weather, the atmosphere looked so nice..🤍

At Jojo Yeonnam Branch, the staff cook directly on a large griddle, and each table has its own teppan (iron griddle)! Sometimes the staff cook for you, and sometimes you grill it yourself on the griddle!

There were four of us, and each table is set up with a big griddle like this, haha.

And when ordering, you write down your nickname along with the coupon!⭐️

The personal spatulas and tableware were so cute 🍽️
What four of us ordered

This is how the menu is laid out! There’s a range from generous set menus to individual dishes~
- Mentaiko monjayaki ₩19,500
- Jojo Signature Okonomiyaki ₩17,000
- Jojo Yakisoba ₩14,000
- Shio Yakisoba ₩14,000
How do you eat mentaiko monjayaki?
What I was looking forward to most was, of course, the monjayaki! I’ve had okonomiyaki several times before, but monjayaki was honestly a little unfamiliar to me!

The mentaiko monjayaki comes prepared like this, with six pieces of mochi and cheese included as standard!

Once the griddle is hot, a staff member cooks it for you!

They add the mentaiko and mix it on the griddle~ Then they spread it thinly across the whole surface, add the mochi, and sprinkle on a cheese blanket! You let it sizzle away on the griddle like this, and the look is definitely a little unfamiliar, right..? haha
Each table gets a timer. When it goes off, you call a staff member, and they let you know when it’s ready to eat!

✨Done✨

Can you see how it has crisped onto the griddle..🥹

It was food you roll up and eat with your own little spatula (?) like this!

It tasted a little different from what I expected, but I liked it quite a lot! Those of you who have tried monjayaki will know—when it gets a little rich midway through! Adding more of the basic sauces provided gave it different flavors again⭐️
Thick signature okonomiyaki
Okonomiyaki is something I already love! It arrives fully made, so you just warm it on the griddle before eating it, haha.

They stick the nickname you wrote at the beginning into the okonomiyaki before serving it💛 The okonomiyaki was really thick, and packed with shrimp, meat, and other ingredients, so it was quite substantial and generous!
Jojo yakisoba loaded with ingredients

Yakisoba is a stir-fried noodle dish cooked with all sorts of ingredients!

Look at how generously filled it is! The shrimp were plump, the meat pieces were big, and the squid was substantial, haha. The fried egg and shredded ginger reset your palate just as it starts to feel rich!

Jojo yakisoba has all kinds of ingredients in it, so I really recommend it if you want to dig in like this!
My first shio yakisoba

Shio yakisoba was recommended by a friend who lived in Japan, so I tried it! It’s stir-fried with a salt seasoning (?) rather than sauce! It has egg, vegetables, scallions, and plenty of other ingredients, so it’s easiest to mix it all together like this, haha.

Look closely and you’ll see that the shio yakisoba is loaded with ingredients too. It was my first time trying it, and it was totally my style..✨ It isn’t overly seasoned, and with just a little spicy sauce, it’s seriously delicious..💗

The noodles weren’t soggy—they were nicely plump—and the vegetables and meat came in really, really big pieces, so it was absolutely delicious..🤍
Overall thoughts on Jojo Yeonnam Branch
Jojo Yeonnam Branch was a great place to visit when you want to enjoy something a little different from the Japanese food you usually eat! I especially loved being able to enjoy a variety of griddle dishes—from monjayaki and okonomiyaki to yakisoba—all in one place💛 Cooking it yourself on the griddle is fun too, so it’s great with friends, but I also recommend it as a Yeonnam date spot!
If you want to try monjayaki in Yeonnam-dong for the first time, or are looking for a different Japanese restaurant in Yeonnam-dong or Hongdae, visit Jojo Yeonnam Branch✨ Like me, if it’s your first visit, you can order single servings, so I recommend ordering one of several different dishes together and comparing them😋💛
