Korean BBQ after a Banpo Han River bike ride: mul naengmyeon at Ugojip

The weather's been so nice lately that I finally headed out to Banpo Han River Park after a while~ Here's Ugojip, the beef restaurant near Express Bus Terminal Station I visited on a date with Nahyeon-jjang!

It's known as a beef spot near Express Bus Terminal, and since you can get good-quality beef for around ₩40,000, I'd had it saved as a must-visit for a while.

We shared the couple set between the two of us, and both the beef quality and the price were great — here's my review of Ugojip, a local favorite in Banpo~

Where is Ugojip, and where do you park?

Ugojip, the beef restaurant near Express Bus Terminal, is located right outside the station exit, on basement level 1 of Banpo Shopping Town Building 5. The building only offers 30 minutes of free parking, so given the nature of this area near Banpo Han River Park, it's better to use the Banpo Han River Park public parking lot!

I was biking around Banpo Han River Park, got hungry, and looked for a good place to eat nearby — that's how I ended up here!

How busy is Ugojip on a weekday night?

The inside of Ugojip has a cozy vibe with tables neatly spaced. We came on a weekday but it was completely full, so I couldn't get photos of all the seating ㅠㅠ

Ugojip really felt like a local favorite in Banpo! The owner was super friendly and the atmosphere was great, so it would work well for a Banpo gathering, a date, or a get-together near Express Bus Terminal Station.

On weekends and during evening peak hours, being a genuine local favorite, there can be a wait, so for group visits or dates it's best to call ahead or book through Naver Reservation!

The banchan (side dishes) spread looked neat and generous, good for pairing with the beef in different combinations!

The couple set was really packed with good stuff!

The couple set, a popular choice for two, is a generous spread with three cuts — usamgyeopsal, chewy galbisal, and tender tosisal — plus a hearty chadol doenjang jjigae.

The portion was generous for two people, and the quality-to-price ratio was fantastic — great beef without breaking the bank!

Usamgyeopsal (thin beef belly)

We grilled the usamgyeopsal first! Thinly sliced, it cooked quickly over the charcoal fire.

The usamgyeopsal had savory fat and tender juices that spread all through my mouth. Dipped in Ugojip's special sauce, it paired so well with the fattiness~

It's also great topped with the myeongi namul (wild garlic leaf) side dish, and goes really well with scallion strips too! Put over rice, it's a total rice thief~~

Galbisal (rib finger)

The galbisal had a nice thickness with marbling running through it — the more I chewed, the more rich juice and chewy texture came out. So juicy and chewy!

It's delicious even with just a dip of salt,,,, and the combo with myeongi namul and wasabi is great too.

Tosisal (hanging tender)

Next up was the tosisal, with amazing marbling! Tosisal has a clean meaty aroma and soft texture that really lets you taste the beef's natural flavor!

Being a rare cut, the tosisal was noticeably more tender and delicious~

Chadol doenjang jjigae (brisket soybean paste stew)

The chadol doenjang jjigae included in the couple set~ the savory fat from the chadol (beef brisket) blended with the hearty doenjang broth for a rich, deep flavor!

The stew was loaded with chadol, super filling and delicious.

The kind of taste that makes me want to come back just for chadol doenjang jjigae at lunch,,,

Finishing with mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup)

We ordered mul naengmyeon for dessert, and the broth topped with fine ice shavings was the highlight. The chewy noodles cleaned up the oiliness in my mouth nicely, making it the perfect way to finish the meal~ Goes great with the beef too~~

Today was another truly filling and satisfying beef outing!
